People really have a short memory on Caldwell. Not going to rehash it because we were all there at the time of the canning.
The fact of the matter is I’m a Lions fan first. I don’t really care who’s steering the ship as long as it’s heading in the right direction. I wanted Millen to succeed…but it was obvious after a few seasons that he wasn’t going to he able to get it done…the fact that he was on charge three times longer than he should have been was absolute misery for fans like myself.
I’ve also wanted Mayhew/Scwartz, Mayhew/Caldwell, Quinn/Caldwell and now Quinn/Patricia to succeed.
Success hasn’t happened yet. No division titles and no playoff wins for any of them.
Yes, Quinn and Patricia are on the hot seat. I want winning football, division titles and playoff victories.
I was excited for Quinn to join the team and the process they went through to get him here.
I was even more excited to land Patricia.
Each year that passes, beginning with year 1, Quinn has done things both to lose and to gain my confidence. I could go on for hours on all the things that sway me one way or the other. As it is now, I look at the roster and shake my head. I hear how deep we are at Safety and how the young guys are going to step up, then read they’ve signed Gilchrest at Safety after having traded Diggs away. Two words come to mind regarding Bob Quinn… Clown Show. That’s really where I’m at on the guy.
I’m leaving the door open for them. I’m not going to go on an all-out online assault. I’ll keep my thoughts to myself for the most part. But, to be honest, I’d rather have Mayhew and Sheldon White steering our personnel decisions than Quinn and O’Brien.

$$ savin move gets us something for a player we were going to lose for nothing in the offseason.
I do agree that the team loves him, and it’s tough on the locker room.
Barring even more crazy injuries, never happen. Not this year.
Yeah they fired our only winning coach. For a guy that cant seem to even have a winning season with twice the talent. This season this same coaches defense has lost every game when it needed a stop. Only keeping 7 dlineman with 2 hurt has devstated this defense chances of being any good. This season is all self inficted by bad choices.
Exactly. The schedule is very friendly the rest of the way. Even at 8-7-1, we are about the same as the 6-10 team last year. One or 2 more wins this year is not any different because the schedule overall is easier and we had way more significant injuries last year. Like our entire group of skilled players on offense. (Kenny G. Tate traded. Marvin. KJ and Stafford). Winning 8 games this year should be grounds for cleaning house. But, I’m sure Betty White’s grandma with throw extensions out to everyone like she’s Oprah.
I feel like the D has no chance to succeed with this many players injured.
Bryant & Hand haven’t played.
Daniels hasn’t been healthy and has missed most of the games.
Flowers is finally healthy now, but was ramping up to it, for the first few games.
Snacks, Davis & Slay missed the 2nd half of the Vikings game.
Then, KJ goes down. Brutal for any team.
We were playing Minnesota tough, and it seemed losing 4 more starters was the straw that broke the camel’s back.
Missing starters at LDE, DT, DT/DE, LB, CB + Diggs playing gimp
On offense, missing our only starting RB.
Meh. Why are we expecting anything out of Bryant? Hand is a solid piece, I’ll give you that.
Daniels is damaged goods and we got him late in the process. Hard to consider him a missing piece when he’s never shown here that he can even play football still.
Flowers has been a tremendously poor signing. He would have to flat out dominate and carry us to the playoffs on his own to justify that awful contract.
Snacks and Davis have been brutal all season. I would replace Davis asap. He’s a liability. We extended Snacks, so we are stuck with another bad contract there.
KJ when healthy this year was getting 3.3 ypc. Not going to cut it in the NFL.
*If we need to be 100% healthy across the board just to compete with a team like Minnesota, then we have a very flawed roster.
Yeah depending on a 4th round rookie who was hurt when you drafted him and a guy cut a week before camp because he had foot issues and currently has foot issues illustrates just how poorly this team was put together.
Exactly. They are just names at this point. Same goes for Amari Whateverhisnameis.
Fact of the matter is, almost all of the guys I listed were projected starters and have started all season. None of them have done much of anything.
Wether you think they have performed or not, consider the drop-off in production, when they are out.
Slay, Harrison, Davis all left in the 3rd Qtr of that game.
Consider the drop-off in production when KJ went out.
Regardess of what you think of them as starters/talent/whatever. The wheels came off, when dudes started dropping like flies.
No NFL team is going to succeed with that many starters missing.
I think some of you have Stockholm Syndrome.
“We’re in last place, but we’ve improved the roster!”
“We’re losing, but it’s close!”
The defense has been bad this year no matter who has played or when.
The offensive line has received draft pick after draft pick, top-dollar free-agent after top-dollar free-agent, and it’s not. Good.
The defensive line, same story.
It’s costing the team games now.
If that’s not on Year-Four Bob Quinn and Defensive Guru Matt Patricia, who’s it on?
At what point, exactly, should there be accountability for failure to win? (I know, it’s the same question many here won’t answer with Matthew Stafford.)
I certainly can’t speak for other dudes, but if you can watch this year’s team, after seeing last year’s team, and not feel that the TEAM (not players) is better, then we’re just going to have to concede that we disagree with each other. The team looks different and improved. We looked flat in the last game, but that’s the first time this year we have looked flat. Hungover from the game the refs took from us.
I’m hoping the loss of one of our most popular players isn’t too big a blow to the locker room. I think we should beat NY regardless.
With Giants, Raiders, & Bears up next, I think we can get right, in moving forward with the team. If not, another painful season.
I posted this before. Maybe you didn’t see it.
From the News;
"HIs mates on defense responded with shock on Twitter on Tuesday afternoon, with cornerback Darius Slay quote-tweeting the trade move and posting, “WTF,” then “This some bull s**t here” and “This one hit be bra.”
Cornerback Jamal Agnew also chimed in: “Nooooooooooooooooo” and defensive tackle Damon Harrison posted: “Wowwwwwwwww no way.”"
Yup - saw it, and that’s why I hope it’s not going to have too much impact on the field. Time to find out what sort of leader Patricia is, eh?
Perhaps you missed the Packer and KC games? They’ve done some good tins.
Truth is usually somewhere in the middle.
Come on man. We were getting gashed the entire game, not just in the 2nd half. We also entered that game (having played a few bad teams) with a terrible overall defense on the season. I think we entered the game like 26th and ended it like 29th? Our defense has been garbage even with the starters.
