Bijan has more yards (6555), but only 39 TDs.
Stud. Imagine his numbers if he didn’t have to split carries with Montgomery the first few years. I was hoping the Lions would draft him in the second round, but in hindsight, like all of us, I am ecstatic getting him at number 12. I never imagined there would be another Detroit Lions running back in the same stratosphere as Barry Sanders, but this guy might actually be even b..b…b….better.

You may take some flak on this one, but not from me.
I believe Gibbs is a better back for THIS Lions offense. It’s built on hitting the hole quick and trusting it will be open when you arrive. Barry was better at creating his own lanes to slither thru. He could stop and go like no other.
We are Blessed to be able to witness both!
IMO, Barry was the best pure RB the NFL has ever seen. Gibbs is a bit more of a complete RB, his pass blocking and receiving gives him a slight edge as a complete back for how the MCDC Lions have built their offensive machine.
Boy I can only imagine what it would be like to see Barry behind our o-line over the past 5 years. I don’t think we can even imagine what it would be like, but you can’t build an offense around finding another Barry, there was only one.
Remember, that was always the point that kept Lion fans drooling. What would Barry be like behind that Dallas Cowboys offensive line? I truly believe he could’ve rushed for more than 2500 yards in a season.
But your point is well taken. Barry lost a lot of yards based on the offense we ran. Gibbs may be dropped behind the line only once or twice a game. Barry might be dropped twice in a series.

Barry was the most electric pure running back I have ever witnessed.
Gibbs is not that, but he is a better backfield receiver.
It really comes down to what role you want your RB to fulfill and what era are you comparing. Gibbs is without a question, exceptional. Barry is a legendary running back.
In a few years, this conversation could get really interesting.
Barry was just a bit shy of 60 TDs with 57 total TDs in the first 4 years.
But, he had 6958 scrimmage yards in his first 4 seasons with 62 games played.
I swear to you, I think it would be even more.
I love Gibbs, think hes an absolute stud. But the fact Bijan has that many more yards playing for the Falcons is kind of an indicator how crazy good that guy is. Bijan in Gibbs place would be an interesting thing to see.
Regardless we are witnessing the best 1-2 league RB combo since Barry and Emmitt.
Amen.
I loved the Gibbs pick but was camp Bijan in that draft. I even posted one mock here that had us drafting both ![]()
My biggest draft crush that year was JSN. I think it was Air and me who were arguing he wasn’t just a slot merchant and could be a legit deep threat
I love the RB The giants got. He would be AWESOME with Gibby
