Jahmyr Gibbs: Only time will tell when I'll be practicing

Only large sums of money will tell when I’ll be practicing should be the title

And, ya know, that back “injury” he’s dealing with… Probably got it from doing wheel barrel reps practicing for all the money he’s about to bring to the bank

Real question:

Is there a reason Gibbs can’t just up-front about what’s happening?

Saying he wants to be even better paid than Bijan might risk bad PR, I guess, but he could just say: I don’t want to risk getting hurt while the deal-making talks unfold behind the scenes but look forward rejoining my teammates one the field while those get done.

Why the business about the injured back and all that?

I assume there IS a reason for the fig leaf about the back; I just don’t know what it is.

At the rate our guys are going down, let him wait another week or two.

In my opinion Bijan is in a tier all by himself as far as being the best RB in the league goes.

I know this is a Lions forum and this won’t be a popular take. But as far as being a complete RB…Gibbs is a tad overrated. Not a great blocker and relies on good blocking more than other elite RBs. He’s arguably the best home run hitter in the league. He’s worth being paid top 3 RB money. But I dont think he’s a trail blazer by any means.

Yea just having the most TDs ever in the first 3 years of a career while sharing the backfield with dmont. I get liking Bijon better but in a completely different tier? NFL executives were pretty split over who was RB 1 between them. For the Lions offense I’ll take Gibbs.

He’s easily a top 5 player in the NFL. Now is his chance to get paid like one.

He’s seen enough injuries (and trades) around him to know next year isn’t guaranteed.

Can’t blame him. Jamal and Monty believed they were indispensable.

Just pay the man. Like you aren’t going to anyway. I also don’t understand why someone like Gibbs wouldn’t want to just get it over with before the season. What is Gibbs asking for?

I get that he is at the top, but does he deserve more than Derrick Henry, Jonathan Taylor? That’s 14 or 15 mill range. Does Jah want 20+ mill a year?

I’ll be shocked if Bijon or Gibbs sign for less than 20 mil per season.

I’m also all for just paying Gibby and let’s move on to other Lions news or games this season.
