Jalen Philips why we didn't get him?

Washington offense was horrible yesterday, still I didn’t see good pass rush from us with a healthy front seven . Hutchinson was rushing somewhere and not touching the QB . Why we didn’ get Philips, only cost a 3 rd round . Philly won supper ball last year with pass rush and we are not bulikig d line

1 we don’t have a 3rd to compete with their offer (assuming you are correct that it was a 3rd, don’t care enough to check). Second, we have had an above average pash rush this season actually from a production standpoint. Would i like more? Yes, but the brain trust obviously didnt feel this move was the one to make. Oh well

I think it was more that Philips is a LB and not really a DE

Cuz Holmes is a coward

Frustrated Buzz Lightyear GIF

So he is a coward because he didnt trade a 2nd (what would be required to top phillys 3rd) for a LB to play him at DE? I mean the guy hasn’t played a full season since 2022 and hasn’t hit double digit sacks in a season so far in his career.

I know you would have called Brad an idiot for making that move so just troll away boss.

Everyone’s always up in arms about Holmes moving for injury-prone guys, but trading for a guy who tore his achilles and ACL over the past two years and is basically missing part of his back is OK? With a 3rd? Brad can’t win.

I love Phillips since he was at the U, made some threads about acquiring him via trade

But a 2nd would’ve been to rich for me.

His injury history and expiring contract are the big reasons why

We can always try in free agency in 2026 him & Trey both UFA

I mean these are some of the same people that freaked out that we didnt trade for Watson, Sweat, etc. Also some of the same crew that was adamant that passing on Fields would be the nail in Holmes coffin.

I blame the desire to be right combined with the over zealous and sensationalized media. People forget that often times the best love a gm makes is the one he decides not to make. You can call him a coward, etc but I would certainly not hire anyone else to try and lead this franchise to a superbowl.

With that said, go ahead guys and spout off about our “director of scouting” because he again didnt make a trade. Funny how when he makes a move to get a guy he likes in the draft he is also “wrong” but if they had their way he wouldn’t even have been in position to draft the player. Instant gratification is not the main role of the GM…

Lol… It would’ve taken you about a half a second longer to Google it than it did to reply that you didn’t care

It was the Philly third rounder that they traded… Which will likely be late in the third.

Sure, but that wasn’t the point of my response. If they traded a 3rd it doesn’t matter where it falls as we couldnt have beat it without a 2nd

The value of a third-round pick really comes down to whether you want pressure on the opposing quarterback, or see Isaac TesLaa—did you know he’s from Hudsonville, Michigan?—make a one-handed catch twice a year.

Could go either way, honestly.

That wasn’t honest.

I’m sorry.

TesLaa was two third round picks, right?

So really, it’d be like having TWO Jalen Philips attacking the opposing QB.

But again, the value of a fourth wide receiver, particularly one from West Michigan, cannot go unconsidered. Dude already has billboards. How many billboards does Jalen Phillips have in Philly? Exactly. The math wins, turds.

It’s rather unfortunate that the NFL changed the rules to only allow Teslaa to play this one year.

On expiring deals while Teslaa may develop into a solid #2 wr behind jamo and arsb for another 3+ years. Hell it’s possible he blows up over the back half of the year.

Idk would it be nice to have more pass rushers sure but 3rd round picks aren’t necessarily intended to “save” the current season.

Only trade i think Brad could have made the past couple years might have been for sweat, but bears giving up their 2nd (which at the time was pick 33) means he would have had to traded a 1st for him, and even for the bears he’s been… aight

Context, philly had injured DEs and Za retired

Phillips is talented but coming off two major injuries

If anything philly overpayed and they might not even re sign him, which is alot for like… 10 games?

Meanwhile, our Dline is good this year and is producing and we didn’t have a 3rd.

If anything, prolly would have wanted a CB cause of injuries

Probably because when a team makes a deal they don’t run it by the entire league before it’s done.

People are weird…75% of sports trades are done without the rest of the league even knowing it’s coming.

Phillips played for Fagio in Miami. Made a lot of sense for Philly to get him especially with the DC knowing exactly how to use him. I never even considered him as a guy Detroit would be interested in.

If you go back and look at NFL trades the past 20 years - especially in-season deals - 80% of them don’t work out. But people only remember the 20% that do.

I also think Madden has a lot to do with the current “just do something” attitude towards roster movement. There are a lot of people out there who do these exhaustive off-season plans and the amount of moves they always make in them is astounding and unrealistic.

Who is the short guy helping Campbell , he is not in the staff list ,do you guys think I can apply for that that job then eventually become assistant head coach ,if Campbell get fired I can be the interim @stephenboyd57
