I like the move to keep him, but the contract feels a little rich. He did play a role on defense latterly so maybe that’s an element of it, but $3.75m APY does feel a lot for him.
Decent money for JRM. Good for him. He loves Detroit and he’s earned it.
Sometimes I think he should have a bigger role on defense. He’s always around the football when given a chance. Clearly not an every down guy but he can blitz and cover. 3rd downs is the money down.
Glad he’s back.
Very, very nice. Elite special team player and a great depth player. Very nice.
Like Badgely, this was a priority, IMO.
Worth every penny! Great special teams players are vital!!!
Exactly.
Agreed, but when the real details of the contract come out, it most likely will be much less. Same thing happened LY. Agents love to put exaggret the value of early extensions and early FA signings.
This is basically the same contract that JRM signed when he went to the Texans in 2022 and signed for $7.5M/2yr with $5M guaranteed. He got cut and got paid $5M for 1yr.
Good signing, key special teamer.
He might be the best special teamer in the nfl. Sure looks like it at times.
Tackling machine… plus runs the ball… passes the ball. Captain. Crazy eyes Fipp is happy today.
And a key role player on defense. I like this signing a lot.
That year he spent with the Texans just feels like it didn’t happen.
Seems to much
Delighted. Glad we are keeping guys that play important roles.
Awesome. Brad and Dan continue to put money where their mouth is. Players in the locker room and around the league are taking note.
Nailed it.
We had a nice rotation down the stretch with our LBs
We are 5 deep and all of them can ball
All of them have different strengths too
Keep in mind he played with Sutton/Moseley in college on that Tenn D.
Maybe we can get Moseley back 1 year for minimum as a depth guy to compete
Not that I care if he’s back or not
He really does a lot of things & plays a very selfless role. Great guy for the team, though I thought he’d come a bit cheaper.
Elite 3rd down LB
#1 ST guy in the league
Fair contract IMO
I was thinking 2 years 6mil, so it’s a little more than I thought. He did play his limited role on defense very well this year though, which I’m sure played into his value.
Overall I am glad he is back and hope he retires a Lion.
