Holy Moly thats alot of money into two recievers

Thats 120 Mill plus per year into Joey B and his WR dup lol

Chase is a stud. 40M per is insane though. They can’t pay for any defense

So that is 43% of their cap.

That is insane

How do they even pretend they can have a competitive team with that much cap tied up in 3 of 22 starters

If they cost average it out, its only 37.7% of the cap per year.

However add in Hendrickson. 45% of the CIN cap space is those 4

Bengals really had no choice. You draft guys and resign them when they are that good. Don’t forget this team made the SB a few years ago. There’s ways around the cap. They just need the new DC to get some young guys and have a respectable defense and they will be tough to beat.

This is true.
Once Hutch gets his $40m aav deal.
Lions will have their top 4 players making 45% of the cap.
Goff, Hutch, st and Sewell,

Add in Mac and thats ~53% of the cap.

Or they just spend more on Oline and see if they can win with 70% of the cap on offense

Before anyone says you can’t win that way,
Philly had 42% in the top 4 and 50% in the top 5

I think they were just fine

Joe Burrow 2025 MVP +700 :hammer: :hammer:

Can you win MVP on a 6-11 team? Their defense is atrocious, they set a record for losing games when they scored 25+ and they’re likely going to lose their best player. Burrow has previously not won MVP in the four years he already had throwing to those two, I don’t see why these new deals would make it more likely?

Chase $40.25 million
St Brown $30 million
Higgins $28.75 million

This is why it pays to sign players early. The Bengals could have done these two deals for $10-$15 million less a year ago.

That’s what Josh Allen was at +700 when I posted MVP and him as the winner after the Baltimore game early in the season.

Hope burrow hits if you hammer :hammer:

I guess the Bungles hope is to win 48- 45 week in, week out.

Trade us Trey

Cincy can go buy OL with that money saved

so Bengals just signed DT Slaton (GB) and LB Orks (PHI, 14% snaps 2024) for their bad defense and are already out of money. Really dont know what they’re doing. Offense has to score 35 every week again

It’s gonna be interesting to see what we do with Jamo. For what it’s worth the Bengals brought in Golden to run the defense and hopefully play some of the younger guys they’ve drafted. Trey is still under contract so it’s very possible he’s gonna be playing there this season.

Interesting when you put it that way.
Both factors: (a) how much cap should be in your top 5 players, and (b) what positions should they be.
Actually, having QB, WR1, and WR2 as your top three paid players is a pretty good strategy in the league today. Yet, I’m still a trenches guy. So having a Penei and Alim in there makes much sense too. Glad I’m not a GM, I would never sleep.

Yup and a lot of people thought bengals might take Sewell in the draft. But the Burrow to Chase connection was a good move.

Most of those huge cap hits are in 2026, not 2025. The cap will go up next year also. The Lions attitude seems to be “we can’t spend money on anyone this year, because we’ll really be up against the cap next year.”

Seems like some teams don’t give a crap about next year.

Just really frustrated when I see other teams making a big splash this year and the Lions are wringing their hands and wetting the bed worrying about next year.

Now reports they’re working on a Hendrickson extension.

I think you’re going to see some big money thrown around on our own guys in the coming days.
