James Houston

But how can he, with millions of dollars of scouting resources, talent, film, contacts etc…

Not See Something So Obvious that a couch potato dipshit like me had been hollering that Russ was turning into a turnip, isnt a running threat and has probably shrunk a half inch since coming into the league at 5’10", maybe…

Thats called BLINDERS and when you have those on while putting hundreds of millions at risk, You Get Fired and shamed and need to leave the city at night on a Greyhound in a disguise.

Is it just me or is there an inverse correlation between moves that win a press conference and the actual benefit of those moves?

Yeah, fair. Russ has been at best a strange dude for a long time and at worst some sort of alien humanoid automaton.

I think their thinking must have been something like well, he had an immense amount of success regardless of all that, so they just figured it wouldn’t matter as much. It’s like Rodgers and his douchebaggery, or the Manning Bros and their pissy faces and straight-up dorkiness. They succeeded despite that, and Russ had too. Until he didn’t.

There is really something to be said about building through the draft and then paying YOUR players. That way you know exactly what you are getting.

Rams took a gamble and traded away their future for 1 shot at the SB. They won last year and will finish with a losing record in 2022 (and beyond?).

I think signing Randy Gregory and then trading Chubb was a pretty big miss as well…

Chubb is a fine player but if he wants top dollar pass rusher money then no thanks.

I heard him say that too. I would have to go back but I believe he added some comments about needing to understand the bigger picture of the defensive scheme to earn more playing time and tied it to Yannick. If that’s what he meant, suddenly Yannick playing for 5 different teams at 27 years old despite being a productive player at a premium position makes sense. It seems like looking from the outside Yannick is a heck of a talent but when teams have him in house his inability to grasp his role in a bigger picture scheme is a deal breaker. Mike Zimmer could only deal with him for 6 games before trading him away for less than they traded to get him. Yannick had 5 sacks in those 6 games and the Vikings were still like “nope, can’t do any more of this.”

I think sometimes you need to just find a way to use a guy, and not ask him to do things that he can’t do. Its okay to have a couple of players on the team that are like that. Brady and Gronk are able to joke about how Gronk’s ability to study the gameplan for the week was pure shit. He just didn’t have the patience. But rather than force him to prove that he could do his own study and repeat it back to everyone, Brady would simply tell him all of the things he needed to know for the week. And since Gronk was willing to do whatever he was told and had a natural feel for football situations…it worked. You can’t necessarily do that across the board. But its okay to make an exception. The world will not stop spinning.

He’s getting pressure and getting held this game. Something has to break.

When I did the Dolphins vs Justin Fields film breakdown, Chubb was the worst offender for playing outside of the scheme for personal glory. I realize he just got there, but it will always be a thought in the back of my mind until I see something that changes it.

Another sack for Mr. Houston.

He’s going to end up leading all rookies in sacks.

4 sacks in like 30 snaps in his career, just wild

Hutch better step it up or Houston is gonna catch up to the rookie sack leader.

Their success in obvious passing downs often seems intertwined bc it sure seems we’re going to rhsh them side by side a lot.

Yes, Hutchinson had a great game today

TLDR: Most sacks in three game stretch in franchise history.

“Houston becomes the 14th player in NFL history to pick up a sack in their first three games.”

Well, no one saw that coming.

With the concussion he suffered late in the game against KC, they may not have a choice for next week. Let him rest up for the Rams game.
