Houston must NOT be the slam dunk value add we all from the outside looking in think he is though.

He has 3 screws and a plate in his rebuilt ankle, he might need more time to get his bend back.
In Dan/Brad I will trust.

It’s his fibula… technically above the ankle.

I do realize they often call it a “high ankle” sprain…
but it really isn’t the ankle.

It’s a lower leg injury.

It may impact his explosiveness… in the near term.

Hopefully… he can regain his previous form.

Well, he pretty much answered that question - that it’s not a “typical” injury. But it is the type that requires more time, so, if that be the case, let’s just look forward to next season.

I will say, my expectations around Houston have plummeted. I figured we’d have him for Dallas or Minnesota, and those feel like a lifetime ago.

With this much rust and the questions regarding his recovery, even if he’s activated, I’m not betting on a ton of productivity.

IMO, if he doesnt come off IR I think the coaches didn’t like the other parts of his game. He was put on special teams and got hurt. Something was up either that to began with if he was doing what the coaches wanted as a premier pass rusher why would he be on special teams? So something didn’t smell right all along.

What was up, imo, was that they didn’t trust him to hold up against the run and wanted him to be more than a designated pass rusher. I’m not sure he ever will be. But it’s clear our staff really doesn’t want to tip our hand schematically, and if Houston was only out there when he rushed, that’s exactly what he would do.

People are always blaming AG because Houston got hurt playing STs. If he is taking limited snaps on defense he needs to play some special teams to hold a roster spot. To drop into coverage on occasion is part of being an edge player. Hutch does it. Even if we don’t get Houston back this year I hope he can return next year as the player he was.
