i love your open-mindedness after this piece of the missive you wrote, but here you have more of an opinion imho
what would your reasoning be that they were to written by these guys?
for me, i see taking a thesis paper backwards from it final form. these guy did have a tablet the day after Jesus died or nor do I think they wrote much the last 30-40 days before Jesus ascended. maybe scoll scribbling. then after Jesus is gone they start with point paper writteings and a basic draft and then the final product for release… what would be the source brother?
I ask, as in all my time studying, ive never heard this idea… makes for a good google search!!
I do know that I’ve heard many different people talk about their Higher Power in AA over many years. Their beliefs and spiritual conjecture often sound silly to my ears, and I’ve learned to just listen and accept that it works for/comforts them in the moment. I assume that there is some fluidity to their beliefs and spiritual conjecture because that’s my experience with age and all that comes with it.
Are there any transcripts of the New Testament written when Jesus was alive?
30-90 years after his death is what I remember. I saw the Dead Sea Scrolls when they were on display here in NC about 15 years ago. As far as I understand there is no evidence of any writing discovered that has been dated before 33 A.D. (New Testament/Gospels)
It’s the same as the people alive today writing the stories of WWII.
I took care of a lawn for a gentleman named Dr. Norman Geisler. He has since passed but he was a world famous Christian apologetic. He started a seminar here in Charlotte and that’s where I met him. He had Ravi Zacharias and Frank Turek come and speak a few times. Some powerhouse minds in the Christian apologetic community.
And that’s what they told me when I inquired on that specific subject…
There is no evidence of eyewitness accounts written during the time of the resurrection. It was 30-40 years after and most transcripts of the New Testament that they currently have are dated early 2nd century.
My current understanding is we have no evidence of written eyewitness testimony to any of the miracles and resurrection. All of it was written decades after.
That may change in the future with new discoveries.
Here’s a book that Dr. Geisler gave to me one day while fertilizing his yard. I read it front to back and it’s and incredible read to anyone, especially all practicing Christians. They go into great detail defending the faith of Christianity.
On this question, I again love the open mindedness going on as you need to view it this way.
Specifically, seeing the Bible from Its point of view, not human interpretation or the fact the Book is about supernatural stuff going on…. Things biblically speaking we will never get regardless the breakthroughs in science; like the Big Bang…. It’s either we magically had the know universe come out of nothing )which I never understand personally( or the universe was created from the outside of it (heaven?) and the entity “created” the laws about this universe we know of…… meaning we can’t understand that power directly…., or as we say it’s supernatural…
From the Biblically supernatural point of view we get the HolySpirt (Acts is a decent starting point for me) and helped guide the building of the book itself
Some books were put it and some weren’t allowed
And the other part is being able to agree to some level of majority of the other books were need for the simple purpose of telling us about God and His plan to bring us back from sin…
And my own two cents? I believe thier is some spiritual or
Biblical value to some other books, like Enoch.
Like the Books of the Apocrypha…,
My expample is I need the operators manual for a car, as it’s a must read.
My additional reading, if I choose, could be about detail repair on my engine or transmission…. Not needed for daily operation but good to know if I like doing mechanical stuff
Still don’t see this even messing around with it tonight…
I think wes mentioned how at the start is was orally passed on (again see Acts to see where this happened) and I think they did scratch thing down like bullet statements today and then again in the NT we see books like Corinthians were the new Christian’s and elders alike are told to stop deviating from the Truth and focus on Jesus….
So, after the original disciples realized people would continue to screw up the Gospel via talking only then put it to pen and quill imo…,
If you research the Jews and Judaism not too far back, they did the same…. Written things down as accurately as possible to preserve their views of teaching and scripture ….
Rabbit hole here is thinking that Jesus never! Taught anything new. All he did was reteach the Torah as it was supposed to be taught and then loved it as well …. AlA the only perfect man to live and die…. All the New Testament does is show how he idid this and then for a live time of teaching breaks it down for the readers even deeper but still it only point to the Torah, and prophets and how Jesus and what : who he was completed the prophecies and this was the Messiah…, but again, the Bible states multiple times many would hear and still choose to not believe
But the teaching of Jesus show is the Torah, if we all followed it from the heart, tells us what to do to avoid war and a lot of the bad shit we have in humanity today…
It’s like earthquakes and tornadoes?!
Do you really thing (from the Bible and Gods pov) that Eden had them? Not!
And shout out as I didn’t see the ideas about no eye witness account before. Impossible for me, they didn’t have word pro…, and they put spreading the gospel in Acts as priority not written it down imho…. But I’m aware of this now!
In relation to the earlier posts about AI, just saw this today and this is pretty wild… I can definitely appreciate the fear of AI. I am not an art history major but the Salvador Dali and Picasso pictures seem pretty spot on. Will we enter a time where we don’t appreciate the human skill of making art because a computer does it better? It’s somewhat happened in the music industry already.
Yes shit like this is dangerous. I’m not too concerned about machines taking over as much as I am humans using the ever-increasing technology to cause chaos and mass destruction. A lot of technology in a few of the wrong hands can do untold amounts of damage. We only need to look back at 9/11 to see the repercussions. Because, of course, what God wouldn’t want his followers to crash planes into buildings? I fear we may look back at 9/11 and say that was small potatoes compared to things we may see in the future. Technology such as Dall-E only makes it easier to spread misinformation. If it’s a few people who are misinformed then it’s probably controllable to some point. But when there are millions and millions of people believing things that just aren’t true based on the way it is presented to them and they don’t have the resources or the want to validate that information, it will most likely lead to our demise. I worry about the future of the human race. We had better get a handle on things real soon because they seem to be spiraling out of control.
I agree. It seems like the people responsible are trying to be mindful of those issues and concerns, however once technology gets out there’s no way to reel it back in. I share the same concerns you stated. I hope this is not made available to the public and if it is there are a ton of restrictions on it. This type of technology should not be in the hands of the masses. And I would go a step farther and say this type of technology shouldn’t be enhanced at all, although I know it’s inevitable
To me the silver lining is that this is still AI created by humans… so you say make me a Picasso it does it, but it copies information uploaded by humans as to what defines a Picasso. So the computer does not seem to be able to generate original thought, only creations based on what humans have told them. The scary part is the next step, where they take the human input and then redefine the information and then start to think for itself in making a new creation. I’m not sure where that line is drawn, but I do feel better about the fact it’s all human influenced and generated.
At the same time, in the wrong hands it could level mass chaos and destruction. And it’s already there in some ways
Look, if you want to talk about telescopes then you need to start a separate topic. We are trying to answer the God question and stop AI and global terrorism on this one.
You can get a good look at a t-bone by sticking your head up a bull’s ass, but I’d rather look at the sky with the $10 billion James Webb telescope. Which at the current rate of inflation, will soon be just a couple tanks of gas in my Ford Excursion worth of US currency.
