Thanks for the well wishes. Settled into the new place.

It’s one thing to be rich live down here and complain about shit as many well off expats do. More money than brains.

Whatevs. This has been quite the rollercoaster and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

The one thing a human being can’t really hide from people who are truly alive is that their soul is essentially empty and worthless. Now that is sorrow, to me.

Here is one thing I have learned (thanks to my teachers).

Do not live as though pleasure is the gap between two displeasures. Don’t waste your life like that.

Harvard Astronomer Says Mysterious Interstellar Object May Be Blasting Its Thrusters to Get Away From Us as Fast as Possible

Avi Loeb ain’t giving up. One scoffer notes that an anti-tail was observed in 1974 on Comet Kohoutek. I won’t pass judgement until I hear from Marshall Applewhite about how heaven is treating him on Comet Hale-Bopp.

Just getting orientated to this place. Holy crap. I can walk ten minutes and then have access to long beaches. Like ten km total in each direction. 30 km with walking around towns. This is good.

Google’s new quantum chip is so powerful it might be tapping into parallel universes.

Google’s latest quantum chip, Willow, solved a complex problem in just under five minutes – a task that would take the world’s fastest supercomputer around 10 septillion years to complete.

That staggering speed has reignited a deep and controversial question: is this what computing across parallel universes looks like?

Some physicists think so. Hartmut Neven, head of Google’s Quantum AI team, says Willow’s performance fits neatly within the multiverse interpretation of quantum mechanics – the idea that every quantum event splits reality into multiple, coexisting versions. According to this view, quantum computers gain their power by running calculations in many of those universes at once.

The concept isn’t new. Physicist David Deutsch first proposed in the 1980s that quantum computers might rely on a “many-worlds” framework. And Willow’s performance appears to align with his predictions.

But not everyone agrees.

Critics argue that you don’t need a multiverse to explain quantum computing – just a solid understanding of superposition, entanglement, and the math of Hilbert spaces. They say Willow’s feat is impressive, but not impossible to explain in a single universe.

So what does Willow really prove?

It shows that quantum computers are becoming powerful enough to force us to rethink fundamental physics. Whether or not it’s tapping into other realities, Willow is opening doors – in computing, in science, and maybe in our understanding of reality itself.

6:47am is awfully early to be blowing my mind, but thanks. I really do need my daily dose of awe.

Now, how quickly does that leap from rudimentary plug and chug equation tasks to protein folding modeling, GAI, fusion plant design and control, warp engines, consciousness transfer, singularity and all the cool wacky sci fi stuff we have been dreaming up for 7 decades.

Not very damn long if I dont miss my guess.

The clock is ticking. Meanwhile…

Physicists at CERN’s Large Hadron Collider have recorded muon behavior that doesn’t match the predictions of the Standard Model — the framework that describes all known particles and forces. These anomalies appear when muons decay at rates slightly different from what physics currently allows, hinting that an unseen force may be influencing them. After analyzing more than 50 million collisions, researchers reached a statistical significance of 5.2 sigma, the threshold required to claim a scientific discovery.

If confirmed, this fifth force would be the first addition to the fundamental forces in nearly a century, joining gravity, electromagnetism, and the strong and weak nuclear forces. Such a discovery suggests that the Standard Model is incomplete and that new particles — possibly leptoquarks or force carriers not yet detected — may exist. It also opens the door to solving long-standing mysteries such as the behavior of dark matter or the accelerating expansion of the universe.

The implications stretch far beyond particle physics. Understanding new forces could reshape future technology in ways we can’t yet predict, much like how electromagnetism eventually led to computers, satellites, and modern communication. For now, teams around the world are revisiting theoretical models and designing new experiments to verify whether this force is real — or whether it signals an entirely new layer of reality waiting to be uncovered.

these might be the ‘exotic materials’ that could enable us to travel faster than light.

or just destroy the planet. either way.

They said it was bacteria in my kidneys but they couldn’t find a source. Knocked my dick in the dirt, blood pressure was 60/35 when the wife got me into the Emergency room, I was 102 and heart was plugging away at 36 per minute. 3 days in the ICU after getting transferred I finally got out a day later. 3 IV’s in the right arm, 2 in the left with a blood pressure monitor pumping every 20 minutes. All I could do was lay on my back. No bacteria in my blood or urine, they were stumped when I left. I assume it was Midichlorians and not a common bacteria, as it seemed like there was a subliminal communication being offered. Oh that was during the Vikings game so there was an upside.

Yeah they don’t know what caused it but figured out how to put it down so there’s that. I’d been running hard, just got back from 8 days in Seattle and Portland then went fishing up in Red Wing, Minnesota, then right back to work. Working 4 days this week taking people to medical appointments, maybe 20 hours. I figure about 2 more weeks of walking and riding my bike I could be back to 100%. I had only been sick once in the last 3 1/2 years so this was really unexpected but when your number is up, there you go.
