If he plays anything like most of us hoped he would when he was drafted, it won’t last nearly that long. Mostly up to him, really.
Upon further review, I think Jamo miss-timed his jump and jumped too late…and then just pulled his arms in as he knew he wasn’t going to be able to reach it.
That pass was a Sudfeld Special, staring down Jamo and trying to throw an alley-oop to him. High and behind, Jamo takes a little swipe but it’s clearly impossible for him to get a hand on. That play required a Stafford fastball into the strike zone as soon as Jamo broke inside, that pass was there. I do miss Stafford windows.
Yeah, I think you’re right that Sudafed should have lead him more as well.
And not to pile on Sudfeld, but he had no business throwing the first INT either. Same deal, stares Jamo down and throws into double coverage without any separation from his WR. He had Gibbs wide open underneath, a pro QB takes that every day.
I mean why not pile on sudfeld, he was objectively bad and off target. Now is it possible that jamo wasnt precise with his routes, sure but jamo didnt make sudfeld throw into double or triple coverage as well as so off target.
The one real bad mark for jamo was the deep shot he dropped, other than that i am Indifferent on his performance. Showed effort in blocking downfield, caught a couple balls, got open a few times. I think he will be fine he just needs to keep working.
No. Those who don’t like Jamo aren’t changing. If he lights it up it will be “it’s just preseason.”
This is typical fan type crap. It probably would take a pro bowl season to change any skeptics mind. Every blip will be emphasized and accomplished minimized. This is common stance around here…
Nawww it will. It definitely isn’t changing before the 2024 season. He’s most likely not gonna light it up this season. And anything short of averaging 80+ yards a game and a TD isn’t changing the negative outlook types.
Jamo is exactly the type of stock you want to invest in. A chance to buy low with tons of growth potential.
Of course, from the Lions perspective they bought high with extra draft capital and 1st round investment but that’s in the past now.
I dont really get the narrative out there… at a minimum in 3 reps last year, one called back, he showed that he can be a high impact player based on athletic traits alone. Is the efficiency or consistency there, no but he is young and working through it. Considering by all acounts he loves the game and reportedly is putting in the work i have minimal concerns about jamo being a functional player.
He may never become that but nothing that has happened so far in his career cements his future either way.
I think expectations for a #12 1st rd pick should be high, but given his suspension and the fact when he comes back after that he won’t be a starter, I think anything less than averaging 50 yds/gm, 1/2 TD/gm and say 3-4 receptions/game would be a disappointment.
In comparison J. Chase is averaging 86yds/game and almost 1 TD/game.
So I think setting the mark lower is reasonable.
Why do you assume he wont be a starter when he comes back?
Tell me what he had done so far to be a starter? DC just isn’t handing him a starting position.
Marvin and Khalif will start over him.
What has marvin done to earn that?
Hopefully he can solve the complex problem of running a 9 route.
Jamo just needs to start having fun. He’s a feel and talent player not a technician and that can be okay. Perhaps not ideal but it can work. He’s clearly in a funk but I’m confident he’ll break out of it. There is really special talent in there.
Once he’s playing we need to scheme him the ball. Screens, jet sweeps, reverses. Just get him the ball
any way possible and watch him terrorize defenses.
Well I think the starters on offense mostly sat last night and were in street clothes. Hint hint…
Edit: I will add, if Jamo blows up the next couple preseason games then maybe, slight maybe, he starts when coming back from the suspension, but I highly doubt it.
I didnt ask if marvin was a starter or not, i said how did he “earn it” or is it just jamo that hasnt or wont earn it and marvin doesnt have to from your perspective?
Marvin missed the start of camp on the nfi and reportedly is continually struggling to get separation.
By all accounts jamo has been impressive getting separation and showed it in a few reps yesterday and a couple last year. To say jamo wont or cant earn a starting spot when he gets back seems to be a stance based on something more than just jamo as a football player.
I believe Marvin is the starter as of now by default. Jamo hasn’t done anything to earn the starting position. Flashes yes, but DC is going to make him earn it with consistent play.
I hope by the end of the season that has all changed otherwise we will have another off season full of Jamo threads
As long as we agree that marvin hasnt really earned the role, to me that just means that when the light really goes on for jamo and he isnt thinking, just playing he will get that spot.
I mean the guy has had 16 or so targets so far in his career.
