Jamo Must’ve Got Ahold of a Good Bag

At this point this is just kind of what I am going to expect Jamo is his drops. He led the league last year and is off to a good start for 2026 now. I could be remembering wrong but his drops on Sunday seemed like he didn’t focus on the catch and was looking down the field.

I hope he can correct this but I now do the same clinching when I see a pass towards him that I do when we attempt an extra point lol. It didn’t help that I bought into all his hype again, which is on me. I really hope he makes me eat crow.

That’s the maddening part…We all see the talent there but it’s the consistent concentration that’s lacking. Maybe it was only two official drops, but there was also the fumbled end around. I’m sorry, but he’s getting paid almost $1.5 million per game to be a professional and to catch 4 - 5 balls. Do you think that’s asking too much of him? If this were the only game then I think most would cut him some slack. But this has been problematic throughout his career. I love Jamo to death. I hope he has a long and productive career in Detroit. But he has to clean some of this shit up. Is he catching 200+ balls a day from the jugs machine? If not, why not?

I just looked it up and according to Google AI, Jamo had purchased a jugs machine for his home while he was suspended and would catch 100 balls per day. Now, juxtapose that with ARSB, who wasn’t suspended, who is playing and practicing with the team and still finds time to catch 200 balls per day. How long does it take to catch 100 balls from a jugs machine? 10 minutes? Is that sufficient?

I just don’t know why he was the 1st read on 3rd and short so often. Like the ball was coming out him quick and Goff wasn’t under pressure

That’s a good point. Perhaps situational playcalling has something to do with it. I’m sure opposing defenses are locked in on ARSB, but we do have a pretty damn good tight end, a decent backup tight end and a good receiving running back.

He’s also the most dangerous person in the league without getting the ball. He is a top end blocker as well. So he gets paid for a lot more than his 4-5 catches a game.

He’s literally one of the better receivers in all the NFL. The complaining is ridiculous imo. Is he frustrating at times? Sure he is…but it’s also apparent what a major asset he is on this team on every single play.

I rewatched the game and we were in 3rd and short a lot and didn’t run the ball in those situations and I don’t understand why.

This wasn’t like last year where it was 3rd and long a lot and weren’t converting. It’s like there was a mandate to get Jamo the ball early this year because of what happened with Morton

Exactly. This is something that is either going unnoticed or ignored. Goff made several quick throws into tight coverage under no pressure. He didn’t have his A game either

Who said he’s not an asset? Who said he’s not a dangerous player? But in the end, he has paid handsomely to catch passes. Not to lead the league in drops. I’m sure Tom Kennedy is a hell of a blocker too.

We definitely miss Monty, or a Monty-like back. The worst was at the end of the game when we had a third and two and threw the ball (failed - stopped the clock) rather than running it. The Saints only had one time out left with about 30 seconds to go. So even if we didn’t make the first down, there was value in getting them to burn that time out. Luckily they had to try a long 62 yard field goal that they missed. That could have been a critical miscue. Lefleur-esque.

I’m going to go with that’s partly on Dan. When you’re now a veteran head coach and your OC dials up a third and two pass in a obvious run situation that has strategic impact then you didn’t set the expectation prior to that play call that you want to force the Saints into burning the time out or to run the clock down i e a running place should be called, or explicitly say we need a running play. None of us know the degree to which Dan sticks his finger in the middle of play calling during the game but the head coach and crunch time absolutely has to be the guy in charge of strategy, and be honest Dan has not been good at that at any point in his career so far

Just give it to Gibbs. Hell line Sam up. We had an absurd rushing success rate on Sunday, it was 4-6 yards almost everytime even with Vaki

He’s well worth the money he makes. He’s even an important part of the Lions culture :man_shrugging:t2:
