Jared Goff NFL All Time Stats

So Goff is having a career year so far.

But how good is hard to comprehend until you look at some stats.
Since 1970, for single season records
Goff is currently
14th all time in yards per attempt. (9.0)
Record is 9.9
10th all time Passer rating (115.3)
Record is122.5
3Rd! All time comp% (74.1)
Record is 74.4

Probably the 14th best qb in the nfl power rankings…

1 900 FOR GOFF  Only 4.99 per minute. Call now for a good time

If only he were “Elite”.
Oh, well. I guess we’ll just have to make do.
ESPN probably still has him ranked 16th.

Only other QBs ever to do that. Top 50 nfl all time in all 3 caring

89 Montana
94 Young
04 Culpepper
09 Brees
14 Romo
16 Ryan
19 Tanihill
20 Watson
21 Burrow
23 Purdy

Unfortunately only young and montana won the MVP those years. Why? Because they had more yards.

That will probably be the ONLY reason why goff wont win it. Lower Y/G and TD% than others

He doesn’t care… If those yards and TDs are going to Gibbs and Monty and the team is winning… well that’s what he wants.

LOL - yup - garbage

Goff and Foxy can just collect titles and let the rest of the nfl get the participation certificates form the league.

Crazy how wide open some of them were…

As if. Try 21st.

You may call him an upper-echelon MVP candidate. ESPN calls him worse than Bo Nix.

When you’re wrong, you’re wrong.
At some point, you really should just take it on the chin and admit what is plainly obvious to everyone. - spoken by nobody at ESPN, ever!

An MVP or All-Pro or OPOY selection, not to mention a SB win, would be a HECKUVA f-u and I can’t believe he wouldn’t cherish one or more of those accolades.

But, that said, dude’s about as selfless as a human can be after all he’s been thru.

The reason why Goffs QBR is so low is QBR also looks at how good the other 10 players on offense are.

So a qb on a bad team with the same exact stats will have a higher QBR than a qb on a good team

So because goff has a
top 5 OL
top 5 RB duo.
Top 10 TE.
Top 5 WR1
Top 10 WR room.

His QBR takes a massive hit

That’s interesting.

I won’t take the time to dig into QBR, but I also suspect that it, like most metrics, doesn’t/can’t capture some QB’s biggest strengths.

Two QBs step up behind center facing the same defensive alignment. One executes the play as called from the sideline, completes a 10-yarder w/a moderate degree of difficulty. WR is taken down immediately. 1st down. The second reads the defense, makes adjustments to the protection, changes the play, and completes a wide-open 7-yarder that goes for 25.

To most of us watching from home, the first QB’s pass looks more impressive than the second QB’s, though the second leads to a bigger play. We’re amazed that a receiver can get that wide open and credit the play caller. PFF, or whoever, grades the first QB higher than the second for their respective plays.

But it was the second QB’s superior pre-snap diagnosis and play shift that led to the easy pitch-and-run - and, maybe, the first QB’s lack of similar recognition skills that led to the tougher throw and fewer yds gained.

Jared Goff is quite often that second QB. His brain, along with Ben’s, talent all around, etc., makes this offense thrive. But not in a way that measures like QBR or QB rating can or do capture.

Football IQ, vs physical talent.

The talent shows up well on TV.
See Allen, Mahomes, Jackson.

But IQ is hard to see on tv with out watching tape.

Goff has VERY high IQ with above average talent.

Mahomes has high of both.

Jackson and Allen have average IQ. Hence why when plays start to not work they fold. And dont perform well in the playoffs

That’s what they’d like you to think, but, they seem to forget how they treated Matt Stafford when he had a team of cast offs around him.
It’s the team! Not the team around Goff.
That, and they all fell for McVay’s bullshit, hook, line, and sinker. They think refusing to own it lets them save face.
Guess what?
The Detroit Lions are the most popular team in the country. You’re not saving face. You look like fools!

And watching tape isn’t enough. You need to know what the original play call was, as well as blocking assignments given the defensive alignment, etc.

Jackson and Allen also have spectacular physical gifts. Often, when pass plays break down they take off, often w/positive results. That shows up on TV and in the rating formulas.

When pass plays break down for Jared, he’s more likely to eat it, throw it away, check it down, etc. Those outcomes also show up on TV and in ratings. What doesn’t show up is the hugely important work he does pre-snap to ensure that plays don’t break down in the first place. Feels to me like he “kills” the play call half the time.

Not only that. When he does check it down. Its not a dump off for a 1-2 yard gain or loss.

He dumps it off on time and in the correct spot to allow the player to make a play after the catch.

Also the other thing people stupidly look at, fantasy points.

Lol at “QBR”

F*ck ESPN and their political drive.

Side note, if Goff had a smidge of mobility he’d have been sacked less than 6 times.
