Surprised he had 4 OT’s going. I guess I need to start studying them, because otherwise it’s sort of pointing towards a weak top of the draft. I do believe the amount of true blue chip talent in this draft is on the low side. Figures, the year we draft third. We’ll get a a good guy up top, but with that many non flashy guys, its probably a bit indicative of not a lot of flash…
Every one of his mocks last year had the Lions picking someone different. His first mock had Hock, but his final mock had the Lions trading down to #23 with the Texans.
If the board was to fall as Jeremiah projects a trade down with Indy looks like the best value. Either Epenesa or even Jeudy at 13 and then go back up into the 20s and get Kinlaw or Delpit or even Austin Jackson.
Not directed towards anyone in particular…
Jeremiah also has a video in YouTube where he and Zierlein are discussing this. Zierlein refers to Okudah as Blue Chip and the 2nd or 3rd most talented player in the draft.
Despite all the debates about positional value and time to grow, I’m completely on board with Okudah at 3.
DJ also prefaced this selection at #3 with, this is where the draft actually starts with the top two pics being as close to locks as you can get. He and Lance both commented in the podcast to expect some movement at 3 for teams wanting to move up.
FA is flush with Dline talent and we have a lot of cash. We also got virtually nothing out of Hand last year, but he is a decent player. What if:
FA with Harrison NT giving it another run, Glasgow RG returning on somewhat team friendly deal and we dump Wagner and use his contract towards Conklin below for RT:
Armstead 5t/3t DL
Barrett SAM
Hargraves DT
Joseph SS
Conklin RT
Then TD to 5 for MIA 2nd.
1 Okudah CB
2a McKinney SS
2b Swift RB
Does that make the Okudah pick at 5 more bearable?
There’s no silver bullet here, bro. It’s going to take a lot of effort by BQ to get the team into competitive shape. 1 player isn’t going to do it. It’ll help, but it’s 1 of 14 or so slots that will turn over this year.
Sounds neat, but nobody is going to sign a “friendly deal” here. We suck and we have a lame duck coaching staff and a clueless front office. If any really good players come here or re-sign her, they will be overpaid severely.
The Lions are in the bottom half of the league in terms of cap space. The number looks good, but not really when you compare it to other teams. The Lions aren’t going to have as many big signings as you think.
