Wasn’t he injured last year? Then you have to give up draft picks and give him a new contract? Just don’t see a trade happening.
Many in here were anti RB before round 5 prior to the draft….
Swift, Zeke, Taylor, CMac, CEH, J Jacobs and Barkley have all either busted, gotten overpaid, and or are holding out in some way with new contract demands. Most would agree that paying them is silly, and most of these backs will seemingly resist playing on the year 5 tender as they will want to secure a payday before age 26-27…. One could argue that Chubb has worked out as an early 2nd who got a secondary deal, but the Browns haven’t won anything with or because of him.
Take a look at the last 5 QB drafts as well…
Bryce, Stroud, A Rich, Pickett, Lawrence, Wilson, Lance, Fields, M Jones, Burrow, Tua, Herbert, Murray, D Jones, Haskins…
Out of 15 QBs- I’d say 3, mayyyybe 4 might have a better career than Goff, but given our circumstances here, I won’t be shocked if only 2 have better careers.
- it kind of validated drafting trenches, keeping a cheap stable of RBs. Get a solid vet QB, and if you strike gold in the draft.a great-
I’m warming up to the Hooker pick for what it could be in 1-2 years. Still wish we have Swift, a guy like D Vaughn, and a top OG/OT
QBs are not created equal. And where they are drafted plays a big factor in success rate. We are a franchise (IMO) that if a QB is drafted here, his chances are 5x more likely he succeeds than if he’s drafted to say the commanders.
If we take Stroud, his chances of success are much higher than say the Raiders take him.
It’s not so simple as this guy ending up sucking, so he sucks.
Rumors of Eagles interest
One of the GMFB hosts wanted that so we could see another version of two players backs to us, similar to the French Fry guys standing next to each other last season.
Wanted a Taylor Swift sighting, I just don’t see it as he wants an extension.
Agree….
Zach Wilson was a turd from day one. Erin still has a ton of talent, but acted more turd than usual last year. Now Erin seems to have chilled out, gotten pretty svelte and seems to be having fun in NY- I wouldn’t be shocked if the Jets challenge for that Divison.
I’d say very few guys are such great leaders than it supersedes personality fit, let alone scheme fit. Goff seems emotionally in tune with “his boys” here, and that helps a lot.
Goff didn’t give a shut about losing 6-7 easy td tosses to 14 rushing TDs inside the 2 last year.
Imagine Goffs stat line was 36 and 7 and Swaggy was 10TDs…. More would be screaming for the Goff extension, and less would have cared about Swaggy departure had Goff called his own number a few more
Times.
That’s assuming people get really caught up in the paper numbers. Goff had a great year regardless of his stats on paper read 29 or 36 in the TD passes column.
7 more 1 yard TD passes doesn’t change anything for me
I mean honestly…should they?
There’s a team missing from this, and it’s the Patriots. Bellichik needs a bellcow like he had with Cory Dillon, and Taylor is the ticket to getting back to the kind of football he loves.
Rhamondre?
Isn’t Taylor
If Taylor returns to close to 100%, a perfect fit would be the Bills. Takes some pressure off Allen. And their current rb room is below average.
Honestly the perfect fit is the Bears. Their offense is really scary with him in their backfield.
Herbert and a 2nd for Taylor makes sense for both imo.
Colts put Taylor on PUP list after not getting a valid trade offer per Adam Schefter.
Not when you consider that the Lions rushed for 23 TDs in 2022–third most in the NFL.
So, news this morning
apparently the Packers were trying to acquire Taylor per Stephen Holder ESPN
Saw that.
Does that tip their hand that maybe they aren’t as confident in Love as they are portraying themselves to be?
Being willing to cough up what was probably $12m to $15m for a RB in 2023 suggests that they would have “loved” to be a run-first team, until their QB situation is sorted.
Well they have Jones and the other back, can’t think of his name, so not sure if it speaks to Love or their faith in their current backs.
Exactly, they have Jones and Dillon.
So if they believed Love was as ready as they are saying he is, would they invest top of the market in another RB on the eve of the season?
I wouldn’t think so. They might have added depth in case of injury, but bring in a RB in exchange for draft capital AND be willing to pay him top dollar?
Hmmm.
Taylor is better than Jones and Dillon. Jones is turning the magical 28 number so he could be ready for a big drop off. Dillon is 25 and become ing a FA next season.
Taylor is 25 so they get younger and better at RB.
Getting Taylor would mean both Jones and Dillon would be cap casualties next season and one could easily be traded this season for a latter round pick too.
