JSN resets the WR market with $42M AAV deal

JSN gets open via elite route running, which is 100% a skill and anyone not taking him seriously for it is just… well, if you can’t say anything nice. But if it was easy they would all do it.

Here’s what Kupp had to say about it:

For sure, but ARSB is way better to me. And consistent. I think JSN is a product of being force fed after Metcalf left. Pickens is the better comparison. We’ll see if JSN can repeat what he did, but IMO i think he goes back to 1,000 yards a season which is good, but not 40+mil good.

I’ll let George Pickens know when I see him at the club on Friday

George Pickens is a chucklehead who was roasted to death by other receivers for that quote.

I was the chucklehead that didn’t draft George Pickens in fantasy

You’ve had a lot of wild takes on here man, but this one… I don’t know.

I would just say this: ask any other WR or CB in the league what they think about him. Ask Brian Hartline who also coached Garrett Wilson, Olave, Marvin Harrison, Egbuka, Tate, Jeremiah Smith, Jamo, what he thinks about him. Or ask those guys he played with themselves. You think you know more than them? Well, I don’t think you do.

I did, plenty. But note that it took having a stud across from him to truly get his best. It’s pretty easy to counter anything Pickens says with “you’re not enough on your own to be any good.”

Chase, Ceedee, ARSB, Puka, Nico, Jefferson, London, JSN i guess he’d be 8th, but theres some other guys or even younger guys that I’d contemplate. Like, I would probably take McMillian or Egbuka over him. If Olave didn’t have concussion history I’d choose him. Jamo is a tough one. I’d probably lean Jamo.

JSN just had one of the greatest seasons a wide receiver has ever had in an offense with Sam Darnold at Quarterback in a low volume passing attack.

But there’s check’s notes 8 wide receivers better?

If a guy is top 8, top 10, whatever, he’s often going to get paid at the top of the market with his new deal. That’s pretty much the rule across the board.

Yes buddy thats what i said

Whoever’s at the helm will target him a ton. And he’s the real deal.

Every once in while I have a moment of clarity and think to myself, holy shit these guys are vastly overpaid for what they do. I am pro free markets, but that doesn’t mean these contracts aren’t obscene.

Something something size… something something slot…

Which is why even the middle class fan has been priced out of the live experience. Only the elite can afford to watch these modern day gladiators sacrifice their lives for entertainment purposes.

The more I see contracts like this the more I’m convinced I’ll never pay what they’ll be charging for tickets. I used to try and get to at least one game a year. No way am I gonna spend $300 - $500 on a ticket. Insanity. I can tell my grandkids what it used to be like going to professional sports games.
