JuJu Smith-Schuster also turned down more money on a multi-year deal from the Eagles than he took to return to the Steelers, per source. The Eagles’ were a secret suitor. But Smith-Schuster loved Pittsburgh and its fans too much to leave.

Here’s the interesting part on Steelers’ WR JuJu Smith-Schuster’s one-year deal with Pittsburgh: the Ravens made a hard push to sign him and he wound up taking significantly less money to go back to the Steelers, per sources.

The #Steelers added $500k to their final offer to JuJu Smith-Schuster to push it over the finish line, source says. Went from $7.5 million to $8 million and it got done.

With stilll-#Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster staying home and making $8M, PIT will either cut or trade CB Steven Nelson, source said. He’s due $8.25M this season, but is headed elsewhere.

Players say it’s not about the money. JuJu Smith-Schuster proved it, taking less from the #Steelers to stay home. He takes 1 year, $8M from Pittsburgh over a 1-year, $13M offer from the rival #Ravens.

This is true. The #Ravens came in with the highest offer. And JuJu still stayed home.

Sources tell me these were the other offers KC 8 mill with 3 mill incentives Steelers 8 mill Baltimore 9 mill 4 incentives

The truth is likely much more that Juju knows the Steelers pass the ball a lot! The Ravens run it 60% of the time, he’s taking less money now, in hopes he has good stats in a passing offense in 2021 to hit free agency next year, instead of joining a run heavy offense where his stats fall off. Makes sense to me. Less money now, but likely more money long term if he stays healthy.
