They looked cooked to me. But they will fight. Just lacking much on offense right now. Maybe if they can squeak out a few wins before Rice comes back and then go 8-3 they might get into playoffs. They need Worthy back this week badly.
Cooked. Probably will reload though
I would bet huge amounts of monopoly money that KC still makes the playoffs
They’ll get tyreek back at the trade deadline.
And Etienne or Breece Hall at RB
A few things on the Chiefs. First, starting 0-2 wasn’t expected, but wasn’t shocking either. KC’s front half of their schedule is by far the toughest part, and losing Rashee Race was crushing for their offense. The second half of their schedule is much easier though, so they will go on a big win streak towards the end of the year and all of the talking heads will be back on their jock.
The real concern with the Chiefs though is the offensive line is still trash. Justin Simmons is playing well, a few rookie mistakes but that’s expected. For anyone who hasn’t seen it, watch the tackle Simmons makes chasing down the corner on the Kelce clang interception. That brought back some Larry Allen memories. Kinglsey Suamataia is not the answer. He was supposed to be the great hope at LT, but was too slow so they drafted Simmons and moved Kingsley to guard to replace Joe Thuney. Turns out he isn’t just slow, he is a terrible blocker. Creed Humprey surprisingly has now had two awful games. Trey Smith is still playing well at RG, but then you have Juwan Taylor being absolute trash at RT. Mahomes is hearing footsteps, and there is a reason he has been their leading rusher both games now. As soon as the ball is snapped, 4 defensive linemen are in the backfield, which means he has to step up and take off. It’s either that, or 3 step drop routes. It’s also why they cannot run the ball at all. Pacheco and Hunt aren’t world beaters, but as we saw last week, doesn’t matter who you have if you cannot block anyone.
Watching the Eagles game, there were a few plays the Eagles overran their gaps and Mahomes ran on them. However, by the end of the game, it was like the Super Bowl again. The Eagles weren’t just sacking Mahomes, they were sacking him by circling and marching his own lineman back into him. It’s a masterclass on how to handle the scrambling QB’s.
I don’t think the Chiefs will make a play for Tyreek. The guy is so much of a headcase, I don’t think the players want him back. One interesting dynamic, the Chiefs sideline vibe hasn’t been there this year. Kelce has already had two meltdowns, Chris Jones cost them the first game and then was chirping Jalen Hurts while LOSING, and even low key Mahomes has been losing his cool. I think the Chiefs team in general is feeling some pressure that they are not as good as they have been, and they don’t have the answers to overcome it.
It’s not panic time in KC yet, but they aren’t scaring anyone anymore either. People don’t want to admit it, but the Mahomes Magic era has transformed into a Checkdown Charlie era.
he’s had a great career….but the guy is a douchebag. Remember when he pushed Andy Reid in the super bowl. Such a tough guy pushing a fat senior citizen. Lol
If Kelce was ever on a bad team, he would be the worst teammate ever. He’s a front runner through and through.
For the record, he is an asshole both as a player and a person. Trust me, my favorite football moment this year was the Charger player absolutely smashing his face in and only getting 15 for it. I’d take that trade anytime. Notice, Travis disappered after that too. Dude is all sorts of fake tough. Loves to taunt and instigate because he is a Chief and has all the attention on him, but can’t handle it when someone hits back.
That being said, I didn’t have any problem with him getting into Juwan Taylor’s face because he deserved it. Yesterday’s though, you can see the frustration with his “I’m tired of this shit.” I think he should have retired 2 years ago, and definitely after last season. The only reason he came back was because of how badly they got waterboarded by the Eagles in the Super Bowl. He wanted his glorious sendoff with a 3 peat and Tay Tay proposal, and it all went to shit. Now he lost some weight and got into better shape, but as you could see last year, it wasn’t just the weight, his hands are going.
It is funny every game hearing announcers say “well, that drop is definitely not something we are accustomed to seeing” when any honest Chiefs or NFL fan will say, actually that’s been a bigger and bigger problem. Noah Gray last year began quietly stealing the pass catching TE role from Kelce.
Honestly if Kelce doesn’t botch that catch and tip the ball right into Mukuba’s hands, that could have been a VERY different game. I thought things were pretty even for the most part, Mahomes is just such a magician he makes their trash offense work just enough to stick around. When they get Rice back (and if they get Worthy back) they’ll probably be hitting on all cylinders during the back half of the season too.
Chiefs will definitely be better the back half of the schedule, but any team that can take advantage of the trash offensive line will present major problems for the Chiefs offense. Even Mahomes can’t sling it deep with guys crashing in his face every minute.
I don’t think the OL is inherently trash. Creed for example is excellent, one of the best Cs in the game even if he’s off to a rough start. Jawaan Taylor is mid af, but maybe they’ll plug in the guy the paid from SF to be their LT before Simmons beat him out (and they’ve reached two SBs with Taylor as the starter, winning one). And finding average play at G if the rest of the line good won’t be tricky, even if it’s not coming from Kingsley. Eventually they’ll ditch the sunk cost and go with someone else. Honestly I’d give Nourzad a try. Not saying he’ll be great, but if there’s one spot cheap guys often hit, it’s along the interior of the line.
To be fair, Andy tried to steal Kelce’s chickie nuggies while Travis was in the game. Not cool!
Its almost like the “genius GM” of the Chiefs is having trouble bringing in good football players.
Window closing, reload commences.
Said reload will take tweaks this year and all of next season and 2026- 27 offseason. As stated, OLine, TE and running game all need a flush.
DLine and DBs will need 2 slots refreshed by 2027. All that’s a 2 year job
Tyreek is a real man beater.
Or wait…
I said they were done and folk thought I was crazy
I definitely see a quick path for a “reload.” The problem is…WHO is going to bring in the players to make it work? The current GM has spent a bunch of resources trying to address the issues that you see on the team. He simply can’t bring in the right guys. I don’t think he is going to magically figure it out in the next 2 years.
Wo-Man. I don’t think you can say that…![]()
They could get a massive haul for Mahomes. Still the best player in the league.
If Stafford gets 2 firsts, a 3rd and Goff. Mahomes might cost 6 first rounders. He’s not even 30 yet.
On the other hand, Andy Reid is super old and not exactly healthy. He aint looking for any rebuilding. It’s win now or retire.
