these Risdon articles are pretty good. One good thing about Tracyā€™s injury - we now know that we seem to have a good one here in Joseph.

That back flip out of the tunnel was badass. Stuck the landing like Simone Biles.

That also was one of the best all time Lions hits as well. Damn it would be good to finally hit big time on a 2nd day pick Safety for a change. Hopefully he becomes a difference maker. We need them.

Notable, IMO, that the faster more athletic safety taken by the Colts, Nick Cross, started the first two games and was benched after that.

Apparently, it was a ā€œcommunicationā€ issue, not due to injury.

That was always the problem with Cross, he didnā€™t have safety instincts. Great athlete but a safety needs to have some smarts.

And PFF has him rated above Brisker and Pitre, both drafted ahead of him. The only rookie safety in front of him is Kyle Hamilton (whom I was sure we were going after when they announced the trade-up!).

I wish iffy could stay healthy so we can know what we have there. Unfortunately, like a poster pointed out, I think heā€™s our new hand. Tons of potential. Canā€™t get out of the training room.

looking like a lost year for iffy. im not even sure exactly whatā€™s wrong with him, but I would move him back to CB or slot in a hurry.

I donā€™t know what you do. He couldnā€™t stay healthy there either:

Iffy and Levi are lost causes. It sets the defensive rebuild back for sure, but itā€™s reality.

i watched him in an interview. he seemed overwhelmed with his injury and learning a new position. said he preferred CB. Iā€™d say his head is in the wrong place and it might be good for his outlook if you removed one of the hurdles ā€“ ie. learning safety.

Sometimes it isnā€™t what you prefer though itā€™s what you can play. Iā€™m sure diggs preferred to stay at corner too. That wasnā€™t what was best for his skill set though. I hope he moves back to corner, stays healthy and thrives. Him at safety feels like a lesser version of Joseph.

His brother, who was a 2d Rd pick of the Raiders, No. 56 overall, was also a total bust.

wow, i didnā€™t know his brother was that bad.
then again, amon-ra >>>>> equanimious. You never know.

Agreed

And, they fired Pleasant?
Thereā€™s way more to that story.

Iā€™m glad you said this. I was looking at the on-field results with tunnel vision, not the overall picture.

Individually speaking, Walker was playing pretty close to lights out before he got hurt. Joseph is already playing like heā€™s been back there for two years. Okudah is having a resurrection nobody saw coming. Elliot, although seemingly quiet, is on pace for about 70 tackles and a couple of picks. Although sadly itā€™s often 30 yards down the field, they are all tackling pretty well.

Aside from AO not liking his benching and falling off the planetā€¦ yeah I think youā€™re right. Something WAY more to whole sequence of like a two week period with AP.

Either way, happy for the Kerby love and happy to see him in a Lions uniform.
