He’s about the most unheralded great safety in the league. I mean we don’t really talk about him. He’s back there taking away deep shots and smacking the crap outta guys so hard that whiners are calling him dirty. Kerby led the league in pix and still didn’t make the pro bowl - unheralded.
As a former WR, he’s got good hands and ball skills.
Appearing on the Jim Rome Show Monday, Joseph was emphatic about his desire to remain in Detroit for the long-term future.
“I wanna be a lifelong Lion, man. I just love Detroit. I love the city, I love the people, I love the fans. It’s just everything to be here,” Joseph said. “When I first came, nobody really knew who I was and they showed me love. The people that did, they just showed me love and they always supported me.”
Joseph resonates personally with the Lions’ trajectory in recent years, as he feels the team’s rise embodies his own personal upbringing.
The Illinois product has played a huge role in that growth, notching seventeen career interceptions and earning All-Pro honors in 2024.
“I just love the fact that this organization, we didn’t have the best winning reputation but now that we’re here I’m here and the team’s here, we’re basically coming from the ground up,” Joseph said. “I just feel like that’s the whole story of my life, coming from the ground up, going from zero to 100. That’s everything I’m about, so I just love being a part of it.”
He doesn’t have to worry.

He will likely have his extension before the start of the season if not before the draft.

I was kind of hoping for some contract announcements this week. Last year we announced ARSB and Sewell the week of the draft.
Yea I think that was to get everyone hyped for the draft in Detroit! The timing sure seemed like that. Then they brought them all on stage.
Possible, but I don’t think Goff had signed his extension by then? No, just checked, two weeks later. I think they would have been there anyway, but having them signed long-term certainly jazzed up the proceedings.
Yea…the boys that had just signed started the Jared Goff chant…they wanted his deal done!

It was sweet for Lions fans to get that news in the run-up to the draft. And the Lions probably saved that a day or a few before releasing it to the public for that reason. It was a testament to the faith and good will surrounding this team, yet Kerby’s tweet shows why no one should freak if we hear nothing before training camp. Brad signs his own if they develop and produce like Kerby.

What’s most impressive about Joseph’s game to me is how soundly he plays the position while also racking up the picks. He doesn’t gamble too much or abandon his assignment to go after them.
