Keys to victory

What are your three keys to victory on Sunday night for the season opener vs the Ram’s?

Mine as are follows

  1. Establish the ground game, typically one of the hardest things to do in football especially early. Is getting that run game jelled between the Oline, TE’s, and RB’s. We have mostly familiar faces on the Oline with a couple of new ones so would hope the ground game gets going early and often.

  2. A lot of new DB’s vs a high profile passing attack. Limit the amount of explosive pass plays, and let’s see some of our new CB’s play the deep ball well. Something we haven’t had here in a while is CB’s with plus deep ball skills. Another difficult thing to do for CB’s, much like an outfielder in baseball when it comes to judging that ball, timing your jump, and staying in position most of the time you either have it or you don’t.

  3. New FG kicker, sounds like he might be able to make 70 plus yard FG’s. For this game, make the make able kicks. IE FG’s less than 40 yards and PAT’s-let’s build that confidence.

I think you have the key points down I would maybe edit #2 to include the DL and DBs. How the new additions in the secondary and the DL impact each other(incl Levi as a new addition based on apparently actually healthy)

  1. The Rams have new faces on the offensive line. Smash them in.
  2. The Rams have new faces on the defensive line. Pancake them.
  3. Win the coin flip to go first.

What are we thinking, if the Dline & DB’s play to their potential are we looking at a top 5-10 defense?

I would be happy with 10-12 and thrilled with top ten.

First game of the year. Rule #1 is limit your mistakes and don’t beat yourself.

#2 The OL is largely the same, but different. We need to see that same OL dominance with Glasgow at LG and Zeitler at RG.

#3 Run it down their throat

Hurt Matt’s feelings and he’ll have a hard time seeing through his tears.

Fake punt execution will be critical :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

First play, Jamo on a dig route just to show 'em that we can if we want to, and then run it down their throat on the next series because that one goes for a TD.

I’m in but I would like to see Fox throwing it instead of trying to run for it.

I was mostly just wanting to cause @linebusy some heartburn

Don’t let up long scores , bend but don’t break on Defense and make plays in the red zone.

Getting after Stafford making him uncomfortable.

BUT

1st and foremost, stop Kyren & Corum

I get heartburn on every 4th down.

No way. Flashing back to week 1 last year.

I’m thinking more along the lines of turnovers on offense. It’s week 1, so you know there are going to be mistakes, just don’t be the team committing the most egregious of mistakes, turning the ball over.

I’ll admit it. In real time I did the, “What the hell are you thinki… great call!” thing.

  1. Recognize that you are a legit championship team.

  2. Go play like it.

Yea that one was pretty risky… Then we did it again on thanksgiving and it cost us big time.

Never use those words in my presence.
I hate “Prevent”.

Bend but don’t break isn’t prevent.

It’s tackling the guy when he make a play not letting him break out for a 60yard tuddy

It’s giving your red zone defense a chance
