One thing to keep an eye on this preseason: kick returner. The Lions have tried a bunch of players at that position, including Jameson Williams, Jahmyr Gibbs, Craig Reynolds, Dominic Lovett, Tom Kennedy, Terrion Arnold, and more. One unexpected player got a return during the scrimmage: linebacker Grant Stuard. We’ve seen them play around with Stuard earlier in camp, but this seems to give some legitimacy to him at that position.
Where’s Vaki? I thought this was going to be his role?
Vaki was injured early in camp. They are probably going easy on him in that regard till he heals
Pretty concerning they’re putting Gibbs and Jamo back there.
I have 0 belief that they will actually have them back there unless it is the playoffs in win or go home mode. Could be wrong, just dont see it being reality.
More likely when vaki is healthy he fills the role and also plays some fb/rb/slot reps
Going to say I absolutely hate the idea of them being back there but man would it be interesting if they had just a small amount of space to start making moves. Not worth injury risk.

I remember there were a handful of times where they put Barry back to return kicks. Seems like every time he took it up to like the 50.
The new kickoff rules the injury risk does seem lower for return men. Punt return is still wild with gunners sprinting 50 yards at full speed. Perhaps in a must win game we would use Jamo or Gibbs on kickoff return. Definitely not a regular thing.
St. Brown got banged up last year returning punts when Kalif was out
