Kyle Kennard

Watching Alabama and South Carolina and this SC front four is pretty impressive looking. Really paying attention to DE/OLB Kyle Kennard. He looks really good. I haven’t paid much attention to him previously so I don’t know if he is consistently good or this is an outlier. Has anyone scouted him much. I’ve never heard of him before today.

Both those defenses are loaded.

But yes it does seems like Kennard is probably pushing round 1 at this point.

Yeah I really started digging into him a month ago when he terrorized Will Campbell all game long. I definitely think he’s pushing to go in the 1st this year, and if he blows up the pre-draft process he could even push for edge #1 since Pearce, Scourton, Carter etc… haven’t done much to separate themselves. I wouldn’t bet on that or anything, but it’s within the range of outcomes. I really like him.

I don’t know how much we’ll be into him - we seem to prefer a big edge opposite Hutch - but he looks like he has the frame to pack on some weight.

If the draft were tomorrow he’d obviously be a 1st rounder. I think he’s making an argument to be the top edge/DE off the board.

He leads the SEC in sacks and tackles for a loss. Throw in the fact he’s had 2 FF and I think one could easily make the case that he’s the top Edge prospect.

South Carolina has arguably the best DL in college football and when you watch them play it’s Kennard who is jumping off the film at you. His high motor and disruptive presence should be getting him more national attention.

If he keeps playing like he is I think we will be making an argument for him to be top 10 and maybe even top 5 come draft time.

He’s a beast for sure.

I think the argument against for him is that he’s playing on a loaded DL and freshmen sensation Stewart is drawing the most attention from blockers.

I doubt he goes above Scourton but they are of course very different. I would personally still opt for Pierce who I think stilll goes pretty damn high. I’d rather have Dylan Stewart than any of them but that will have to wait two more years.

As for the first round, we’ll see. I’d imagine he’s safely in there at the moment. But not so much so that workouts won’t matter. He’ll be 23 at draft time. He’s clearly long and he seems pretty twitched up but that has to prove itself out for him to go in round 1 I’d think.
