Laken Tomlinson

The general impressions that I recall about Tomlinson…

I remember being enthused about the selection, even though I didn’t think he was the best at the position to be selected. Just happy Mayhew was doing offensive line.

Not much impact his rookie year, I tend to expect that of offensive line, Sewell was a pleasant outlier.

In watching Tomlinson over the course of the next year, it became abundantly apparent that he didn’t want to be here. His body language spoke for him. His efforts were adequate, and ended there, he seldom went above what his assignment called for on any given play. He left a multitude of clear, second-level blocks out on the field that were easily within his grasp and would have positively effected the play.

Overall, I was supportive of Quinn’s decision to trade him. He didn’t earn it. At that point in time, I feel he was someone who would have flunked Dan’s turd test.

I can say he was landed in a hornets nest of horrible confluences when he was drafted, but I would be betraying my own sense that this is a guy who plays for the money first and not the love of the game. IMO, Tomlinson is someone who will go with the flow, good or bad, and not a go getter.

For myself, I would be skeptical about this as a potential signing. He’s a plug and play guy whose ceiling is adequate and average. Sometimes it is best to leave the past in the past.

I began the day Millen became GM and ended the day Holmes became GM!

It goes back MUCH further than him. He was a desperation attempt at breaking the cycle.

At least we made the playoffs a few times in the 80’s and 90’s.
The 2000’s were ruff!

And actually has had a darn good career. Kinda reminds me of Van Noy.
