Laken Tomlinson

He seems to have played well at every stop except Detroit. What was his issue when he was on the Lions, and is he perhaps an option for some veteran backup for the interior of the line?

We have an advantage, Hank knows!

He is very bright, which along with his durability will keep him in the league.

For those that track/study OL and thwir attributes, does Laken have the mobility to do the large amount of combo and pulling we do?

That would be a full circle moment that would really speak volumes about how far this franchise has come over the past 3 years.

He was a greenhorn and played for what has been described as not just a bad coach but a horrible person. No, not Matt Patricia, rather Ron Prince.

Meinke quote:
“I’ve been covering the NFL since 2013, and I’ve never heard a coach ripped this much by players, former players and people around the league. Never. I heard whispers around Allen Park dating back to last year. It came pouring out after he was fired. I heard more about it at the Super Bowl, and a whole lot more in Indianapolis. He’s not well-regarded for the work he did in Detroit last year, to say the least. His personality was just, like, grating. He wore on veterans. I think the Lions feel really good about moving on to Jeff Davidson, a really respected offensive line mind who also has coordinator experience. And as a former lineman, knows what players are going through, and knows how to talk to them.”

From what I remember, he was a smart kid, hard working and fairly athletic. Not sure why he wouldn’t be a smart fit.

Please no

My main memory of Laken Tomlinson was from the Lions loss to the Seahawks in the playoff game.

Lions ran a screen to Zach Zenner which should’ve gone for about 50 yards.

Instead of trying to block Bobby Wagner like you’d expect a huge OL to do, Tomlinson tried to cut block him and completely missed

The play went for 7 yards instead.

Tomlinson was more suited to a power blocking scheme than a zone blocking scheme where OL have to move in space

I don’t think he fits what the Lions do.

Yup me too, can still see it…

Tomlinson, Glasgow, and Jackson, along with Sorsdal, and of course, Decker, Ragnow, Sewell.
All Lions!

Pretty sure one of the knocks against him was his lack of athleticism. More of a mauler in tight confines, not great in space or on the move.

He was just drafted too high. Not his fault

If the staff pull the trigger fine, if they don’t , fine.

You may be right, I really don’t remember all that much about the kid.

Thanks man, great find. This is on Bob Quinn’s watch…the boy among men.

As much as Batman Boucher disgusts me, Ron Prince was Caldwell’s guy.
