Lamar Jackson a Lion?

The Lions can get him the day after I stop rooting for the Lions. No thank you.

I’m not sure actually.

I’d rather make that deal for jj McCarthy in 24.

He’s eligible for the 23 draft according to the athletic

And SI says he’s a top 10 pick… way too early but we’ll see!

He’s never had a 3200-yard+ passing season but in 50 starts has rushed for 3690 yards (73.8 yards a start). I really like Lamar. He’d win us 4-5 more games than Goff if he was on this squad now.

But he actually runs too much to make $200M guaranteed make sense. He’s never started for a full season due to injury. Drafting a mobile QB is a more frugal bet.

You beat me to it by 30 seconds lol

Haha right on, now we both know!

I like McCarthy but let’s wait and see what he does against good college teams… and unfortunately that won’t be until UM plays MSU and then OSU. Their schedule this year is pathetic

I didn’t realize that kid was that big. 6’4 and can run like that. I hope he develops his passing game. He has all the tools to be a josh Allen level quarterback. I’d love to draft him at the end of the first and let him sit for a year behind Goff.

I’m ok with pathetic. Nebraska used to ride pathetic schedules to the National championship all the time. Alabama doesn’t exactly play a gauntlet of non conference opponents either. After watching the film breakdown of jj I’d be shocked if he didn’t turn out to be an elite quarterback.

For sure! I didn’t catch all of the Florida Kentucky game the other week unfortunately but will definitely keep an eye on him. He did better than Levis who’s the Kentucky QB who’s supposed to be a top prospect too, I think? Gotta go back and look at the stats

That is true. I’m surprised alabama even went to texas on the road to open the season instead of having texas Christian technical institute college come play them in alabama… and they almost lost!

I just hate the college cupcake schedules. It’s like you get all excited for football season and you get maybe a good game or two a week and the actual good matchups don’t happen until Halloween.

Although this year has definitely had some fun games I didn’t think would be close… or could be I’m just paying more attention this year

Really depends on Richardson improving on his passing. I like Levis a little better for where he is now in both passing and running. Do you take Richardson over him if his passing doesn’t improve?

I like JJ, obviously, but want him to add some weight and not look for contact like he does (former hockey player for those that didn’t know). I think the kid has a bright future.

He didn’t miss a game due to injury until late last year…
missing the final 4 games.

He missed zero games in 2018 after he was made the starter.
He was rested the final game of 2019 for playoffs.
He was inactive 1 game in 2020 due to Covid.
He missed week 10 in 2021 with an illness.

With the rumored contract he turned down due to not enough guarranteed money I would lean no. I’m just not sure how well he ages.

If winning makes you barf/angry then you have definitely picked the right team to root for! :clinking_beer_mugs:

I like a certain level of cupcake. I want our depth players to get experience. Teams like Hawaii I’m not a fan of playing. I’d rather them schedule teams like Oregon state , Colorado or Arizona. Teams that can compete but you can still handle fairly easily.

Didn’t they have UCLA on the schedule for this season but it was cancelled?

I would like to have him, but the price +risk + lost draft capital makes it sketchy idea.

It moves our window up to RIGHT NOW. This is a big plus for a fan base who last won when a computer was something that took up space the size of Subway restaurant.

It MAY attract a couple FA our way. Maybe.

It WILL put our cap in a pretty bound up spot for some time.

It WILL eat more beans than the Blazing Saddles campfire scene. You want to fix the defense?
Not if you add Lamar and dump 3 firsts.

It WILL be three firsts, because there isn’t a team more ill suited to receive Goff back in trade than Baltimore.

I would much prefer going
2023 1st- DT 2023 1st QB ( I am assuming we have to give up our 2nd to move down, which isn’t a terrible idea since it’s an absolute minefield for us historically)

FA- LB, resign AO, Brown as LG, resign Hock for a reasonable deal if he doesn’t get hurt…again.
2024 1st-3rd BPA gems later and Harris stays or we attract a FA talent.

2 firsts plus Goff.

I like this idea a lot.
