And yet people only wanna pay Jamo $20 million a year… He had more TDs in 2024 than McBride has had in his entire career
Lions have a two year window. Idk how they can resign everyone
They can… or they’ll keep drafting studs an getting comp picks
Love LaPorta but not sure I want to pay a Tight End like $22m/yr or whatever crazy number it’ll cost when he’s due.
At some point you have to pay !
Gonna be SLaP vs Waymo, essentially.
Not certain who I would pay. Probably Williams?
Speed kills, and we found LaPorta after letting Hock walk…
Big part of the reason we traded Hock was Holmes didn’t want to pay him. His contract was about to expire. Then got a huge deal with the Vikes. I’m not sure I pay LaPorta that much. 20 mill a year for a tight end is wild IMO
I think that was a money but also a fit issue. Hockenson didn’t really fit the Holmes/Campbell culture like LaPorta does. I wouldn’t be shocked if Jamo is moved so they can pay LaPorta.
Yep, can’t see how they can pay both, in addition to Ra, top market value.
Agreed. That was a factor too. But Hock was in year 4 at the time. He was about to get his bag. His 5th year option was pricy too.
And Goff and Sewell and Ragnow and Decker. So many guys making big money on offense.
Yes although Ragnow likely won’t be here after his next contract so that will free up a bundle although an enormous hole as well.
I hate to say this but the Lions SB window might be smaller than people think. Likely to lose a core guy or two and the offensive line is getting old fast.
Just gotta keep crushing every draft to replace some of these guys. You gotta have guys on rookie deals… Not everyone making 20 plus mill per year at every position.
Good problem to have though. The alternative we have seen for decades
Absolutely, some real perspective after 60+ years of wandering in the wilderness. We’re just entering The Golden Era of Lions football, thought I’d be long dead before that occurred.
No one is exploring the option of moving on from Goff after 2026… He’ll be 33… If he continues to not get the job done, especially in the playoffs, would they consider drafting a replacement and use the savings to pay our other studs?
Interesting idea. I guess it all comes down to his performance. Will he still be the same with John Morton calling plays? I think so. Only time will tell though. If he’s playing well I think he sticks around for 5 more years. But things can change fast in the nfl.
Just gotta have a guy ready to go. Eagles lost Kelce and promptly won a Super Bowl with prior 2nd rounder Cam Jurgens taking over. He’s not as good as Kelce but that didn’t matter cause they kept building the talent level everywhere.
Weird… no one is exploring the option of smashing his own junk with a tack hammer, either.
I bet there’s a reason for both of those things.
Am I the only person who thinks it’s a better value to pay an elite TE 20mil a year over a #2 WR getting 30mil?
Not knocking Jamo at all, I really hope we can work something out, I’d just rather take the guy who costs 33% less.
