Last year 40 percent passes play action

This year 15 percent. Just need the lbs to hold a little bit. The rush to slow down just a second. I think this is part of the problem.

I can’t imagine a reason the Lions are playing less play action. Could it be because the OL can barely hold protection to allow play action play to develop without a rusher being in Jared’s lap. Or is it because the Lions run game has been atrocious because the OL also sucks at run blocking and no one feels threated by the Lions run game?

Along with that it seems like we are going shotgun a lot more. I could be wrong but it certainly feels that way.

Need to be able to run first

Wrong qb in shotgun you know exactly where Goff will be play action he may be behind guard or tackle. Makes an A gap blitz easier to block

Plus stunts will also be less effective.

All I know is that good coaches adjust their schemes to reality/injuries.

Best see that from Morron soon

Seems like another thread that highlights the greatness of Frank Ragnow…. and also Kevin Zeitler.

.

Please baby Jesus…. let Zeitler be traded back to Detroit tomorrow.

Yup. I’m good with our defense. Please bring in some upgrades to the OL.

yea defenses won’t bite on the play action because their front line can stop our run anyway.

Need to run more draws with gibbs off a play action the lbs drop back on.

I was wondering about that…and I think you’re right. The Lions need more cowbell and play action.

talked about this last night, the Vikings constantly challenged the Lions interior OL and Jahmyr Gibbs in protection. Gibbs allowed 7 total pressures, 6 of them quick, and 1 sack. His time to pressure allowed was 2.1 seconds. Graham Glasgow allowed 3 quick pressures and 3 sacks.

The only thing Ragnow and Glasgow have in common is that both of their last names end in OW, except for Ragnow, that was inflicted upon opponents, and for Glasgow, upon Jared Goff.

the running issues are a direct result of the O-line problems, numbers will suffer until we REALLY fix it.
