All these guys started last year at some point or another.
Blake Miller, Ben Bartch, Juice Scruggs and Larry Borom are NFL players.
Maybe they will be good maybe not but they would be in the NFL whether they were Lions or not and that can’t be said for the guys we ran out last year.
I mean technically Manu is still in the nfl but only by a thread.
I really hope at least one of Miller and Rat step up and show themselves as a legit building block this season. Both is asking a lot, and neither would be crushing… but I’d like our OL a lot more if one of those guys can be a difference maker
I don’t think that is asking a lot and should be expected with regards to Ratledge and Miller. I expect both these guys to show they are legit building blocks and thought Ratledge did that last year.
The center, Juice early and May going forward, and other guard spot are the question marks for me.
I thought Rat hung in there last year, showed he was at least a playable rookie. Nothing wrong with that as a young buck. But that’s a far cry from “building block” or foundational player. And it’s not a given that players just get way better in year 2. I hope he does but some players take a step back in year 2 (sophomore slump). Playing between Juice Scruggs and a rookie? I view Rat as a big wild card.
The staff views him as a budding star, pro bowl level… I agree that playing next to Sewell helped, but GG and whoever else they stuck at center are worse than Scruggs by a mile
