I didn’t say he couldn’t do it, but that he can’t be counted on to. Stay tuned.
He’s already been counted on for that and he came through TWICE
We’ll see. I’m not a believer. Too many wild throws on the regular.
He can be counted on to make elite plays.
The question is, can he be counted on to be consistent enough to avoid putting them in position to have to make those high-level plays? We all know it’s an unsustainable path forward, we’ve seen this show a million times. It won’t work every time, just like it didn’t week 18 against us. He has to get more consistent, even Ben knows it. Right now he’s a very high ceiling, but pretty low floor player as well.
All I know is that it has worked TWICE in the last 4 weeks, albeit both against the Packers. Week 18 is irrelevant
Two is not a very big number. Just saying.
It wasn’t irrelevant because they were trying to win. No game is irrelevant.
And the Packers are 0-5 since Parsons went down. Maybe they’re just a really bad team now?
And yet they beat us in Ford Field as the underdog on National TV as their last W before the losing streak…
Very SOL’y
They still had Parsons. There’s a reason they finished 0-5, he had an outsized impact on their defensive scheme.
I hope they fire him bc I believe he is a good coach. They would be smart to keep him.
Rest easy tho, I truly believe as long as they have Love they will never see the big dance.
But you said he couldn’t be counted on to do it and I’m just pointing out the two most recent times that he did. One propelled a DIVISION TITLE, the other propelled a PLAYOFF WIN. I could count the times that he failed at it….again against the Packers in Green Bay the week after Thanksgiving and the 49ers game. But during tthe season?? I know you guys are in a bad dream about Caleb and Ben right now….but the dude got it done and is getting it done! ![]()
They already won the division. They had a HOME PLAYOFF GAME secured. That game was irrelevant! ![]()
So, is this you agreeing that it isn’t sustainable as Stafford didn’t much of anything going forward in Detroit.
I think you pivoted to a different team, unless, of course, you are saying Caleb is playing for a different team where it becomes sustainable for him.
So not sure you, well, you didn’t, really answered the Chicago specific thought on sustainability in your comparison to Stafford/Caldwell as I don’t believe the team improved under Caldwell.
I get your point. But I still don’t think he can be counted on to do it. I know he had late game heroics in college too, but it’s a very dangerous way to live in the NFL when you’re also missing receivers by a country mile on the regular. Like I said, if he keeps doing it I’ll give him kudos. But I’m not a believer.
Man I was one of Caleb’s biggest fans in the draft and one of the few who fully expected him to hit big with Ben. But you’re acting like he’s already arrived, and I’m saying he hasn’t. And Ben himself agrees with me, just listen to his press conferences. I still think he’ll get there, but right now he’s playing poorly enough where he puts himself in position to HAVE to make those plays.
And if you don’t think they were giving it their all to beat us, I don’t know what to tell you. They wanted that game desperately. If they’d been playing their bench guys or not tried, then sure, pyrrhic victory. But that’s not what happened. They wanted it, tried to win it with everything they had, and failed. I mean Caleb was in the EXACT spot where you’re boasting about him coming through… and went 3 and out. It’s not a sustainable model

They scored 3 first half points total between GB and DET the last two weeks. Caleb’s play is a big part of that.

Ben was just dying to yell “■■■■ the Lions”
Where am I acting like he’s already arrived?? By pointing out he’s done something that someone said he’s not capable of doing?? That is quite the stretch. And I have watched way too much football to know that no one has arrived after one season. This would be like saying that Stafford, after overcoming injury seasons his first two years, cannot stay healthy. Some people made that argument back then. Or how bout when Stafford actually did stay healthy and had a break out season in 2011…someone coming on here and saying “it’s not sustainable”?? Well, to tell the truth Stafford has never thrown for 5000 yds since then and he just surpassed the 40+ TDs for the 2nd time since that 2011 season. But to try and tear Stafford down as saying his QB play or ability wasn’t sustainable would be a ridiculous argument.
By pointing out he’s done something that someone said he’s not capable of doing??
I didn’t say he wasn’t capable of doing it, I said he can’t be counted on to do it.
Will you say you think he can be counted on to keep to keep making these plays? Not saying you’re wrong, but if you have that kind of confidence in him just say so.
I stand corrected….but to even say he can’t be counted on to do something that he’s done more than a few times is just hopes and dreams from a fanatic. You are speaking on what you want to happen, not what is actually happening
