Let’s Finish FA Strong

I personally like the moves Holmes has made so far, especially after adding Mcreary today. I think most sensible Lions fans didn’t think we would be big players in FA. We still have some moves to make to fill some obvious holes going into the draft. Below are some moves I would love to see us make in the coming weeks.

Resign

Avonte Maddox - 1 year, 2mil

DJ Reader - 1 year, 5mil

Trade for Anthony Richardson using a late round pick

Free Agency

Cam Jordan - 1 year, 7mil

Von Miller - 1 year, 6mil

Matt Milano - 1 year, 4mil

Jonah Williams - 1 year 5mil

Brandon Cooks, WR - 1 year, 2.5mil

This would leave us with little holes going into the draft.

Goal would be to come out of the draft with a DE and a OT in first two rounds. Grab depth with the rest of the picks.

I think he’s worth a shot. Teddy would be an excellent mentor and who knows, maybe he develops into a solid backup. Could also be a weapon in special situations, similar to how Taysom Hill was used in New Orleans (minus the receiving TE stuff).

for a 6th round pick, it’s a worthwhile dart throw IMO.

They are bringing Teddy back for something, IMO. They mentored Hooker with him. I’m going to assume they are looking for another QB for him to work with. I was thinking maybe somebody like Drew Allar but Richardson is the exactly the kind of raw talent I would want. I mean that dude doesn’t have a typical ceiling. I’ve never seen a QB with a higher ceiling physically. I understand some of the hesitation with his maturity. I’ll let the FO figure that out. But man if that dude every hit his potential…

Yep.. to be the #2 QB.

The Lions have typically only carried 2 QBs on the 53-man roster.

No need to trade for a QB that won’t make the 53-man roster and would likely be poached off the PS.

That list is top notch, assuming it comes with a time machine.

A PS guy, Mark Gronowski would be a decent choice.

Typically they carry two when both are established vets. If they bring a project like Hooker they’ve carried three. If they trade a pick for Richardson I suspect he’ll be on the 53 like Hooker was. Same if they draft Allar etc.

I think that’s where we will be picking from. Jordan had 10.5 sacks last year and can still play solid run D. Miller had 9 sacks in a little over 400 snaps. Milano was one of the best coverage LBers in the league and hopefully if we play him only 300-400 snaps, mostly on coverage downs, he can still be pretty good in that area. Jonah Williams is coming off a couple seasons where he dealt with injuries, but was very healthy before that he has been a solid starter for a good portion of his career

I’ve always liked Brandin Cooks. He had some really good games for the Bills down the stretch and Goff has played with him. He could probably be had for even less than what I said.

Dude, you’re asking for trouble around here
And everyone knows AR is still a guy who has that porential to be a franchise QB because his abilities, and size is off the charts. So this is bad for you :joy:

The next consecutive games with just 60% completions and 1 TD pass will be Richardson’s first.

He is a 9% body fat version of Mike McMahon

Honestly I want to think of him as someone that will take the developmental spot on the roster for a number of years. Basically that it. No one expects him to pan out, but a late round pick that occupies the role of developmental QB for a few years is not terrible. And a lotto ticket if he does.

Good list of players.

I’d love Maddox back, such quality depth and versatility.
Interesting DJ Reader is still a possiblity.

The question for DJ Reader is pay him for War Daddy inside again, buys Tyleik another year or two. Good rotation.

OR Take the 6th round comp pick for him and find the next Buggs,Benito,Bohanna…

_______________

Anthony Richardson , I’d be down. Is Trey Lance still available?

They are both big boys, make them go Tebow route as QB3 and also play some TE lol

___________

Cam Jordan - YES

Jonah Williams- Was my projection for us before we got Borom. Now, Idk? If he’s 2-3mil then sure

Von Miller - I think Brandon Graham is more realistic signing and half the price if not more

Milano - YES 1year 3 mil

Cooks- This would be the ultimate luxury get, I don’t see it for us.

DAY 5 for Free Agency was good filling out Blocking TE3 + NB1

Let’s keep that momentum going.

Those two and Jawaan Taylor are the three vet one year deals I’m interested in. Doubt that we’d want to spend enough for all three but I have no clue what each wants.

Some bargain bin ideas:

Martin Emerson lottery ticket intrigues me. CBS and Achilles tears :grimacing: . But he hasn’t yet turned 25 and recoveries from that injury have been better amongst younger cohorts.

Cam Taylor-Britt always should have been a safety IMO. If he’ll move back there I’m interested.

Perrion Winfrey - super talented. Probably wasn’t our type of guy coming into the league. Maybe he’s matured. Cheap high upside DL lotto ticket.

Payton Turner fits us stylistically. Won’t help with psss rush but setting an edge and what not. Though we already have Lacey for that role.

Mohamoud Diabate - still 24. Super athletic. Started games in multiple seasons for good Browns defenses (17 starts over the last two years). Had some pass rushing success his one year at Utah but hasn’t been used that way as a pro. Seems worse in coverage then he should be but he played near the line of scrimmage a ton in college.

Shame we can’t mad science his abilities into Goff. Watching Goff suddenly run a 4.5 40 would be the highlight of the season. :joy:

I would still add Max Mitchell to this list, even though I don’t think we’ll be adding to the OL anymore.

I can’t do that. Two first names.

I think Anthony Richardson has a chance to be great! Now that he has cashed that big check he has soooo much free time for Rocket League and Fortnite, there really is no telling how far he can go? Platinum? Diamond rank maybe? The sky’s the limit for him now that he doesn’t have to focus so much time on football.

Packers are the current faves for him.

Honestly we should be making these bets. Packers getting a 3rd for Willis, Vikings got two 3rds for Darnold AND Danny Dimes last year. They’ll probably get another for Kyler. It doesn’t have to be AR, but just bring in Lance or something.
