Lets Talk About Alex Honnold

This dude has gotta be the craziest ■■■■■■ to ever live.

I’ve been scared of heights and get Vertigo relatively easily. The Toronto CN Tower had some stressful parts at the top.

There is no amount of money you could pay me to try what he did.

Not only is he out of his mind. But probably one of the best athletes in the world.

Alexander Pope said, “to err is human.”

Which make Alex Honnold absolutely inhuman.

It’s one thing to make these unbelievable free climbs that few, if any, other people would even try. But he’s made literally 100’s, including many, MANY free-solo climbs where a single serious mistake would have kill him - and he’s still with us.

I’m sure he would say he makes minor mistakes all the same. But to climb all these high places that are not meant to be climbed, and to do it alone, without a net, without ropes, sometimes without equipment - AGAIN AND AGAIN… that’s crazy to me.

It’s like if an NFL QB’s life and livelihood depended on every pass being a completion in every game.

He isn’t even considered the best climber in the world, but he is the most famous because he does crazy stuff like that. I don’t like his chances of growing old.

Or if an NFL QB played without a helmet and shoulder pads for a full 17 game season.

In some ways I have mad respect for the guy… On the other hand his family must be freaking out every time he climbs without gear

Imagine applying for life insurance? Umm it says here you climb mountains and skyscrapers with ropes or safety gear. Can you elaborate on that? Haha

Maaaaaan, if he lives long enough to not be able to do those climbs any more, I’ll feel sorry for him. How the heck does a guy like that with a SERIOUS dopamine addiction get his kicks once he physically can’t do it any more?

“Older individuals with a history of dopamine addiction often face a chronic “dopamine-deficit state”, leading to severe anhedonia (inability to feel pleasure), deep depression, and apathy when they can no longer engage in stimulating behaviors. Their brains, having downregulated dopamine receptors to cope with overstimulation, struggle to find joy in normal, daily activities.”

He’s definitely been considered the best at certain points of his career, and at certain disciplines. But yes, there have been others out there in the same class as Honnold. All seem partially suicidal to me…

Ride rollercoasters without seatbelts probably. Or swim with killer whales on Tuesdays with fish guts in your wetsuit lol

Skydiving might work for an old timer too

If anyone is willing to skydive without a parachute it’s this dude.

These guys always blow my mind. Yeah, you got bigger balls than I do!

As someone that’s scared of heights, It hurts to watch this stuff :joy:

Lets talk about sex on top of the Eiffel Tower now that is gonna make some serious cash

I hear ya, brother.

I have a hard time standing on the Cut River bridge.

It’s hard to believe that when I was a kid I crawled out on the girders and hung 500 foot ropes that all of the neighborhood kids swung on, me included…200-300 feet above that 10 foot wide, 12-18 inch deep “river’“.

Stupid kids!

With a Yeti?
