Levi Onwuzurike remains under contract with Lions for 2026

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I agree with you.

But you complain about everything. These guys are cheap, low risk deals. No big deal either way with possible upside.

I shouldn’t even reply cause most people have you on ignore.

How are they low risk when there is a massive risk that they won’t play? No one is forcing you to reply big fella… you can just keep on scrolling

Why can’t you believe it? It’s common sense. Relying on Levi at all is a huge mistake

True but when someone quotes me I usually try to reply out of respect. And you do make some good points now and again.

So it’s low risk cause of how cheap they are. Davenport and Moseley got a good amount of money from the Lions for barely playing. That’s where I’m coming from saying low risk on Paschal and Levi. Don’t get me wrong I want to add talent and more competition on the dline. If they get outplayed in training camp or get hurt again, cut them

I don’t think so. From what I’ve seen, it only pertains to players in the last year of their contract.

Could Yeboah be in the same boat, @DeadStroke? Or is it just being in the final year of multi-year deals it applies to?

No it has to be final year of contract and they have to have been on PUP or NFI. Rakestraw was on IR, he got hurt during training camp. as @jcook2 pointed out.

Nope, not eligible for IR players, has to be on PUP or NFI, which is a designation that you are injured before the start of training camp.

I I look at this as more of a veteran training camp option if we want them. They can’t go out and solicit to a new team so it’s basically a card up our sleeve and if for any reason we have injuries in Camp or the guys in Camp or that we draft don’t play up to a roster spot we have two guys that we know can play even though we know they are really Twitchy health-wise.

That said they have to be 100% healthy and Camp too if they have any kind of little something something going on I would think the team would go out and cruise the practice squads of other teams at that point because it would be a little cheaper and yeah these guys can’t be counted on overall. But if they’re healthy out of the gate and better than what we have there’s no reason they shouldn’t be the deepest guy on the depth chart

This changes the roster holes

Nice to see they’ve finally caught up to @Phunnypharm who first brought up his contract tolling 3 months ago . . . but better late than never.

I think this is fantastic. Two flyers for low dollars. Yep, both guys might cut. Both guys might end up playing big roles. Who knows? The known: they are inexpensive guys who can be cut if necessary. No downside as each guy is a serious value if healthy.

Basically Vet minimum depth.

Rather have those 2 guys than have to find a Quinnton Jefferson. Gross.

If Levi and Paschal are DE/DT4s that would be crazy good depth. Sure they both have history of injuries but those roster spots are usually replacement level at best anyway. Both are absolutely worth keeping around that cheap.

It won’t change the fact that we still need to add an edge in both FA and the draft. Along with a DT as well. This is great news imo.

In 2024 he was top 15 in pass rush win rate for a DT and had 47 pressures… For under $2 million? Hell yeah, I was stoked when they were able to resign him for $5.5 million. No loss if he’s still injured, huge upside if he’s healthy

For NFI or PUP contract’s the team has to elect to toll it…. It’s not automatic. The team has to pay the player a portion of their salary to keep the rights to that extra year. I am assuming they didn’t do that with Levi and that’s why he’s showing as an UFA.

So Justin Rogers could be completely off on his assumptions that both Paschal and Levis contracts tolled. They can be tolled but it doesn’t mean they were tolled by the team.

Levi’s base salary is guaranteed - So I assume the Lions may choose to just move on. Which may explain why he’s showing up as an UFA.

I’d like for a reporter to ask if we tolled them or not?

Justin Rogers reported in his chat: “Tolling is automatic if conditions are meet. Team doesn’t have to exercise it like an option. This is something I learned today.”
