Kubiak brought some of that defensive knowledge with him too it seems

What a hire

The Kubiak’s know how to coach football, it’s similar to the Shanahan family.

Here’s another interesting stat for anyone who thinks the pressure defense isn’t working. The Lions are 2nd in the league in sacks, with 12. Only Minnesota is higher at 14.

This is a “live by the pressure, die by the pressure” defense. It causes sacks and turnovers. It also gives up big chunk plays and looks terrible when it doesn’t get home.

Did any of you guys see the Minnesota Tampa game where they just flattened the pass blockers all game.

It’s 1 things to have a great scheme or great play call

It’s another thing to just flatten the dude in front of you every play

Looking like Seattle last year ….

basically its late 2023 Lions Defense all over again is what your tellling me

we dont have the dawgs that can actually play coverage in the back, so chaos is the method

I dont mind pulling out that playbook but the Offense needs to be throwing the kitchen sink too. They start a bit too slow, wish they could get going earlier, cause i think if they can we can easily drop 40 on teams.

Yep, I’ve been saying that on the board. In some ways I think the 2023 defense is a bit better, because we still had Sutton (who was serviceable), rookie Branch, 2nd year Kerby and then they worked Iffy in as a rotating blitzer. The other corner spot was just a disaster no matter who was back there. Also, by the end of the year, we got CJGJ back. He didn’t do much for the Lions, but his opening pick against Baker in the divisional game was huge to set the tone.

I like Reed, I think he works his ass off, but he cannot match up to any decent sized WR. Teams are just throwing high balls over him. We kind of see the same thing when Branch is matched on taller TE’s. Branch will fight you to the end, but at some point, it looks like an older brother holding the ball above the shorter brother’s head. That’s why we need at least one taller CB to hold down a spot. Whether it’s by trade, Whiteside, Rock recovering some confidence, I don’t know but that’s the biggest gap in a series of big gaps.

I do think we just dont have the dawgs in the back (which is 2023 all over again), but this time we can actually trade for a solid piece.

McCollum, JPJ, Donte Jackson. Just need a solid body back there that can atleast hold up reasonably well.

Lions have what one turnover this year? Gibbs fumble vs saints

yeah i think thats the only turnover so far.

Goff has been very clean with his throws and ball security has been solid.

Good teams don’t turn the ball over. So thats a great sign.

Goff never throws picks
