Lions adding 1 more opponent in Week 17 2021

but your losing 19-20 million extra dollars we ‘could’ use this offseason…but not if Stafford leaves, because we have to pay him that…

no QB is going to come here and drastically change anything “right now” why not keep Stafford…save that 20milion, (he’s not going to be around much longer IMO anyway) work on the defense, WR unit, maybe nab a QB Matt can help groom…and gain more cash by the trades/cuts that are made…because we need an O-line guy, LB’s , WR, maybe a S, or CB, or QB or DT, DE…then, when Matt goes we have something more for the new QB?

maybe next years class of QB’s blows this one away?? and we save more cash -then if Stafford goes elsewhere.

YES!

Matt’s cap hit to play him w/o a restructure is

$34Million.

If he isn’t going to be your long term answer,

1.Why Keep Him? We Are Freaking Terrible

  1. Why burn $34million to play him with a new EVERYONE, not great cap space or draft capital AND a tough as shit schedule?

  1. Why restructure his deal and just make when we ARE competitive more cap constrained?

Its $33M to play him and $19M to let him go. I’d rather just go ahead and play the guy for the extra $14M. Our options are alot better going into 2022. I definitely wouldn’t restructure.

How does a thread about the NFL playing 17 games next year turn into a Stafford sucks/Stafford is the greatest ever thread?

Good point

My bad, my bad.

ps - trade Stafford.

Hate that they are adding a game to the schedule. Messes with player stats and records.

That is another great point.
More injuries and more meaningless games too.

I heard someone come up with the idea that a player should only play 16 games and must sit out at least 1 game. That seems interesting.

We shouldn’t be surprised though. It’s all about making money, the NFL are as greedy as they come. They’ll be playing a 20 game season, with 0 preseason games before long.

If it means fewer preseason games, have at it.

They should do practices with another franchise for a week, play one exhibition game, and be on with the season.

And don’t get me started on making fans pay full price for exhibition games.

Massive scam for sure.
