Yes to all this.
One thing they do not mention is how many yards we’ve gained or given up.
Rightly so.
I’ll buy it on offense and special teams……but I do not trust this defense right now.
You gotta get up to date!
Lions defensive DVOA ranking:
2020: 32
2021: 29
2022: 27
2023: 13
2024: 3
DVOA is much more predictive of team wins vs. points or yards.
We are getting too much hype now
We are set up for a ego deflating loss

I didn’t even know what these acronyms meant until today. But sure! Now that you speak to me in those terms… the Lions are definitely the best team in football ![]()
I think numbers DO help you put things in perspective more objectively so cool. I think one can also cherrypick stats to be dishonest as well. The value comes down to the honesty of the analyst.
But at the end of the day, we’re currently 6-1 with 9 more games let to play! And then playoffs and hopefully SB.
I don’t care so much about what our ranking is now tbh. It’s still a long season. I just want to be peaking come December into January. Good teams find ways to win and nobody is going to care if we have great stats and lose a SB.
Just keep moving in the right direction, remain focused and stay healthy! And at the end of the year we’ll have the only final ranking that matters ![]()
I think we are , this offense has been challenged with quick starts of the vikes and titans but we just plain out classed them so bad. I mean this offense when in sink is as strong as I’ve seen by any team I remember. And Jared Goff is playing as good as any QB I’ve seen and I’m old. I’m consider negative by many here, but I’m not to worried about the DEs. Because I think this offense is just that much better then the rest of the NFL. As long as we don’t loose Goff. This train is full speed ahead and it will be Damm hard to stop. Sure we could use the help at DE. But we have had issue on defense but I havent seen lack of pressure being it so far, I’m sure we will have a game that it turns up and I’m sure some guys will jump right on the I told you so. But even with practice squad players at DE were still the class of the league. And on offense it’s a pretty good margin.
Absolutely. Peak late. I’d like to beat GB. ANd then i would not mind at all if we lost to Houston. We might be better off for it. Its a long season.
So to summarize, we are doomed without making a trade! Got it!
Or, never stop peaking. That’s how I do it personally.
I’ve said it before …
what a time to be alive.

Here’s betting the Lions have this one on their “revenge” tour schedule after getting curb-stomped on Thanksgiving in a game that wasn’t as close as the final score.
I’m happy ….
But I also know human nature…. Outside of the Pats, teams always have let downs….
And I also believe our team under Dan is the only one to date that could duplicate this same run…. But humility must happen or humiliation will …
Here’s to hoping we win at GB!!
Goff needs to be our Tom Brady. Not necessarily from a stats perspective (would be nice) but from a steadying hand stay focused leadership position
That must be true. It’s all I keep hearing around here anyway
In all my years I’ve never seen the Lions ranked #1 this late in the season in DVOA. Been following that stat for a minute too. In fact, other than last year, I don’t really remember being top 10 even.
That’s because they never were:
From Aron Schatz:
Last week in the DVOA commentary, I wrote about how the Detroit Lions had never finished a week at No. 1 in 45 years of DVOA ratings. They almost did it a week ago, only to have Baltimore blow out Tampa Bay on Monday night and pass them for the top spot.
This week, the Ravens were upset by the Cleveland Browns, one of the worst teams in the league so far this season. Meanwhile, the Lions destroyed the Tennessee Titans by a score of 52-14. And so, the Detroit Lions are officially No. 1 in DVOA for the first time ever.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are now the only franchise that has never been No. 1 in DVOA for a single week. Sort of, anyway. It depends on how you feel about the Browns. The new Browns have never been No. 1 or even No. 2 for a week. The old Browns were No. 1 several times.
