Eh, close enough
LOL, I remember that showā¦. damn getting oldā¦
Me too.
Arnold (Rock)
Kerby (Harper)
Borom (???)
Laporta (Conklin)
McCreary (Maddox/Rake)
Rodrigo (???)
DJ Wonnum (???)
Branch (Maddox/Clark/Iziem)
Christian Mahogany (Scruggs)
- on the surface thatās a bit scary having 9 question marks going into a season of high expectations. Each of these āstartersā has a different question surrounding themā¦
- Arnold- in theory we have 2-3 cheap years left, but we still have to dodge legal action, league punishment, a return from injury, and even then he needs to play betterā¦
- Kerby is signed long term, but will his knee let him play long term? Overall we as fans are bracing for the worst, but I think Harper is a nice backup
- Borom was a one year deal, and the amount suggests he wanted to start and āprove it.ā I could see a round one OT that comes along slowly this year, a mid round OT that takes over next year, or an OT early that can either play LG, or try Borom at LG in camp vs CMā¦overall I like where I expect us to be after the draft at OT- young, talented, combined AAV of about 34M (17M each) and 4 years of team control!
- Laporta has fans worried about his back and a resign. However I think the tag could make sense here if his play is stellar, and we could trade him for a 2nd and 3rd next year. I think his back is fine, and grabbing a guy like Delp, Bentley, etc would be wise mid draft to have a year to get up to speed. Hope we get a Tucker Kraft type steal.
- I love the combo of Rake, McCreary, and even Maddox at NB⦠many have given up on Rake, but he might balance out our injury bad luck and play a motivated 17 games. Roger is a dawg, and Maddox could bring some physicality there.
- Rodrigo? Okay this one is bad! Barnes cannot play in coverage at allā¦. Rodrigo has been a bit injury prone, isnāt a great coverage backer and only on a 1 year deal. This scares me.
- Wonnum is a solid run defender, has two 8 sack seasons under his belt, and was trending toward another 8 sack season before an injury in 24ā. Like Rodrigo, heās not an ideal starter, and is only on a one year. Plenty of vets still out there and plenty of different flavors in the draft.
- Branch is likely out til week 8-10, and this is one we can and have actually prepared for with Clark, Iziem, Maddox
- Mahogany is a shaky starter with two years left, and Scruggs is better than Kayode, but still not good.
Having 9 question marks isnāt warm or fuzzy, but in reality⦠almost all teams have this or more-
Having Goff, Gibbs, Jamo, Mays, Sewell, Rat, Teslaa, Mac, Liek, Hutch, Jack, Reed, Amon Ra- thatās 13 studs with 2 or more years left⦠most teams donāt have a list like this for sureā¦
Both safeties, tight end, and CB/NB listed above all have great players and plenty of contract security at most of those spots, and some nice depthā¦
That leaves DE, LG, WLB, RTā¦. These are spots where I donāt love the starter, donāt love the remaining contract lengths, and donāt have much depthā¦. Could we snag G Pratt on a 1-2 year, and maybe Jordan or Bosa?
If so we likely go RT and Edge in rounds 1-2⦠add some CB, TE, DT, and RB in the draft.
Maddox was a key for sure
Important depth signing (NB,S), Maddox did well last season. Glad he stays at home
But then thereās the Lion handicap:
No suspension - 10%
Suspension later in the year - 50%
Suspension to start the year - 40%
Thereās probably some site where you can actually bet on this.
