Lions are still checking out options for DL players….
and DeMarcus Walker is another guy that can play DE or 3-tech. He is just under 6’4” tall and weighs 280 pounds.
.
Prior to joining Bears in 2023…. I found this about his alignment.
.
.
.
He had 7 sacks in 2022 with Titans… and though he played more snaps at DE, almost all of his sacks came from a DT alignment.

I expect the bottom of the roster churn to be copious, just like it was last year.

this a player I brought up along with Risner, Scherff, and J Blackmon as great late free agency values…
He’s 6’4" and 280 and has 14 sacks mostly from the inside or 5 tech the last 3 years. Oday Odeyingbo had about the same snaps, same pressures, same sacks and same PFF Grade last year, and the Bears just gave him 16MM per…
Walker would be awesome as a veteran DE/DT addition with some can crusher DE and juice inside…

Z’Darius long gone if we sign this dude?
I feel like Paschal would be out of role completely if we sign DeMarcus Walker…
Hutch/Davenport/Muhammad
Walker/Paschal
Barnes
my guess is they would draft a big edge, or a flamethrower type and let the top group combine for 1100 snaps at LDE??
400 Walker, 400 snaps Paschal, and 400 snaps J Stewart type? could that be 12 sacks?
750 snaps Hutch, 450 snaps Muhammad/Davenport- could that be 18 sacks?
If so we could be at 40 sacks counting DTs and with LBs and DBs north of 50?

Pass. Walker struggles with cut blocks. Check the tape!

14 sacks and 48 qb hits over the past 3 seasons… Pretty good production. At the right price…sure

Yeah, that’s who DeMarcus looks like to me. Pic 1, Demarcus. Pic 2, Ebron.

I hope this is just a fallback option … I would much rather have Z’Darius Smith

With BroMart getting his number, I suspect the door is shut a little more firmly than Brad suggested.
