I beat a master 2x who was in the mid 2300’s. I was better in speed chess. I am sure I could have made a run to the 2200’s if I wanted to spend time studying, but I had better things to do. I still enjoy playing casually.

I only recently started playing again on chess.com, but only 10 minute blitz chess and mostly against computer opponents since the games usually last no more than 10 minutes and 10 seconds vs the computer.
I play a lot of poker…or at least used to before all the casinos closed.

I used to play chess as my brother won the class A championship in New York when he was 18. I am very creative in the middle game. I agree with Bobby Fischer that the pieces should be changed to start every game. Too many people simply memorize the first 30-40 moves and you get boring games. I play for entertainment at times on Yahoo. I did play in the state championship in HS as my brother told the guys to recruit me for the state tournament. We won the state title and I tied for the top spot and lost a tiebreaker to a teammate. I was offered a scholarship to play chess in college, but wasn’t interested at that age.

That’s cool, man. People are fascinating, to me. I’ve had my ass handed to me almost every time I’ve played. Love how different, yet all the same we humans all are. Wish you luck in finding enough people to play. Truthfully, I wouldn’t be interested, even if I did live closer. It’d be like the equivalent of the puniest kid in school going to a boxing club that didn’t have weight classes. I’d get murdered so badly it would take the fun out of it for myself and others.

Hey Cynodon…did you used to be Turf Guy? I looked it up and found Cynadon was a genus of plants, which is basically Bermuda Grass.
Anyways, I remember that poster being very well informed and had some great input. I think the poster owned a turf growing business down in FLA or something.

Still doing the turfgrass but I have slowed down quite a bit after breaking my neck 3 years ago.

I’ve been propagating rubber trees in FL - really like 'em. Keeping them outside through. 2nd most oxygen producing plant there is, apparently. They get up to 30 ft tall in the wild here and are damn near invincible.

Dog piss on the lawn has many solutions.
The damage is cause by a localized concentration of nitrogen (which is salty). Pulls water out of the plant destroying the cells.
Solutions: (if possible)
Diet - there are pills and some dog foods that can lower the nitrogen levels in a dogs urine. I’ve had customers use these products with mixed results. I always tells my customers to be very cautious when changing their pets diet or trying a pill. No turfgrass is worth a pets life and health.
Water- a simple squirt of water on the pee spot (immediately after) will dilute the urine. Easy, safe, but little more effort.
Spot seeding - toss a handful of seed on the dead spots. Not ideal but is an option.
Moving the bathroom to a different spot (if possible). Woods next to the house, mulch beds? This is usually not an option, but a solution none the less.
