Lions Could Start February on Right Note by Cutting Graham Glasgow

I hate to see guys lose their income, but he seems pretty cooked

Guarantee he gets a solid retirement from the z lions imho

If Glasgow isn’t retiring, he may be willing to take a pay cut and be a backup. I’d gladly take him back at a near minimum salary to be insurance on the interior.

otherwise, he is an easy cut.

I have been assuming Graham and Decker retire. If Taylor wants one season cool. But Glasgow likely gets cut for his play at this point. Just not where he needs to be at this point for that cap hit.

I was thinking try for a pay cut first. He obviously loves Detroit and is our most versatile lineman.

Add a few void years and spread out the hit? Or just restructure a complete new deal?

He’s made $55M in his career and his salary in 2026 is $5.5M. Cut his salary in half to $2.75. Will he play for that? It’s likely no one else will pay that much, so maybe? Also maybe not considering life after football.

Currently (because his bonus hits after FA starts well use those numbers)

2026 $8.5m cap $3.4m in dead cap if cut.

2027 $1.5m void

Restructure

2026 $5.5m cap $8m+ dead if cut

2027 $4m+ void

Pay cut/ Negotiate

2026 $4.5m cap $7m dead if cut

2027 $2.5m void

Cut/ Retire

2026 $2.9m

Minimum a restructuring

Maximum retire/cut

I dont see a paycut/ Negotiate or Staying pat happening. And adding more void year would only save ~$1m off the cap this year. And push it to 2027. Virtually nothing. So kinda pointless

In terms of $ out of his pocket.

Currently $7m (0 loss)

Restructuring $7m (0 loss)

Pay cut $5-6m (1-2m)

Cut (lets say after his bonus) (6.5m)

I think our staff will do the right thing.
