These guys have to get used to it.
Especially, here in Detroit where all Lions fans have PTSD.
Fact is he called a crap game against the Seahawks. The scheme was crap and the in game non-adjustments were crap. THEN he ran a very different attack the past two weeks and it’s been great. Plenty of room for balls and strikes.
The Lions defense did pretty well against Mahomes & Co–although one of their best defenders was Kadarius Toney.
I’m neither on or off the AG train at this point. We still have a long season to go. They are trending the right way right now but can be better. He / They know that. As long as they don’t lose sight of that, they will hopefully continue to improve and be peaking as december approaches which is what you hope for.
Huh were are the #1 run defense I think thats more then trending.
Fact is it all goes back to pressure first 2 games the only guy to get pressure on that Dline was Hutch . No help on the inside at all, witch made the whole defense look bad, and made it diffcult for your DBs to cover , 3.11 sec. Avg to throw. Most defense will struggles in that situation.
Next 2 games were getting pressure from both inside and out on the Dline and the whole defense got better quickly. Now were stoping the run at a league best and were getting pressure also. As long as they keep the pressure on this defense will be pretty good.
The LBs and DBs have been much better this year with gap discipline. Barnes is much improved, Anzalone is playing well, the edge rushers are setting the edge and not crashing inside, Branch has been outstanding from the slot against the run…
and the outside CBs have filled nicely on the few runs that actually get bounced out to them.
Loved this play by Cam Sutton on Aaron Jones…
when Hutch and Branch strung the option play to the outside…
and Sutton arrived with bad intentions….
and Anzalone was right there in case he tried cutting back.
I don’t care about Glenn not caring.
Did Millen care?
Did Patricia care?
None of them cared.
Not a unique stance.
We’re 4 games in. 13 to go. A lot can happen between now and dec when it matters including that current run stop ranking. That’s what i mean by trending. The ranking matters over a larger sample size to carry you into a deep playoff run for it to be real.
You can go back to when we started winning last year. The D has been good for awhile now. They only thing lacking last year was secondary play and we were aggressive in addressing it. Now if we could just keep all those guys healthy. AG gets more flak than he deserves on the board. Seattle was bad but that’s one of two blips in a 12 game streak.

That play is a beauty! Not just the Sutton tackle, the whole play.
Thx for sharing. Hutch strings the play out, Branch smashes Love, and Sutton blows up the RB’s knees on the pitch. And Anzalone is right there to make the tackle if Sutton doesn’t.
Outstanding defense on option QB run, pitch.

That was true against the Hawks. They also had a plan to get the ball out early. But having the pass rushers we had available in that game all along our front 7, it was just inexcusable to me when BOTH their starting OT’s were out that we couldn’t get to Geno. You’re right about lack of inside pressure (I ask for high investment on a disruptive 3t erry year), but when you’ve got backups on the edges, maybe you put all your studs inside and dare them to try to run outside. 0 blitzes - something… We didn’t touch the guy till the game was almost over. Stinker game for AG IMHO. But he’s been great since so I’m not pushing him out the door.
I lost count how many times they sent extra guys and didn’t get home.
Blitzing didn’t work against Seattle and I feel like I’m the only person that saw they tried a few times and the results were the same

Were they overloading the tackles and hitting the interior with Hutch? Unfortunately I can’t record games this year and won’t pay the NFL’s extortion fee lol. There may be less to blame AG for, but man… I just can’t get past two backup OT’s and you can’t scheme that into pressure somehow. Is it as simple as we run more zone we win that game? Maybe so…
