So who are the 5 starter level linebackers?
They mentioned a Holmes quote where he stated they have 5 starter level “or have started in this league”. Just because they started at one point in their career doesnt mean they are starter level.
Sorry, but Rodriguez is not starter level to me, and Barnes needs to prove it on the field still.
But even at that. The article mentions Anzalone, Campbell, Barnes, and Rodriguez. That’s 4, who’s the 5th starter level LB on our team?
Probably the best LB group since Spielman, George Jamison, and Dennis Gibson.
JRM. He was our top LB in 2021, better than Anzalone according to PFF. Underrated guy for sure. I’m happy to have him back. Does he deserve to start among this group? No. Will we lose much if he subs in? No.
Campbell
AA
Barnes
Rodrigo
Fox
Good ST guy too.
The lions consider ST more than most teams do, IMO
You forgot the amazing Jason Cabinda. He is a starter quality LB, FB, and TE… duh
JRM is #5, and Rodrigo started as a rookie…beating out second year Barnes.
Rodrigo isn’t starting because he’s the best suited to step in if DST goes down.
You’re playing checkers.
Having at least a solid core of players is KEY for this defense.
Thats why Carolina burned us so bad. We didnt have enough good LBs to run an EFFECTIVE 4-3 run defense.
Rorego has his moments but he is undersized for run stopping.
Having Campbell, AA and Barns out there for run stopping will be a massive difference vs last year.
