Short arms, undersized, and not athletic. Other than that, he’s great.
I’ve taken a second look at him and there are some good things about him. Short area quickness, swim move, and really good at locating the football. I think its a better pick than I initially thought.

I like him already.
So what’s the scoop on this guy @Thats2? Gill seems short and small, he got any interior pass rush juice? Brad must like something on tape
Yeah, awesome first step. Penetrates very easily. And a lot of violence in his hands (knows how to use them too). He’s similar to Wingo but the hands have more pop and the first step is probably a little quicker (I thought Wingo had more fluidity in his body to fight blocks). He can wreck plays right away. And as you can see from the videos above, he’s a leader, etc… Scored very highly on the grit index. TT defense wasn’t nearly as good without him. He’s got kind of a stubby build and that can cause problems for him if OL get into his body, and it can affect his run defense for sure, but if he hits the way he can, he’ll be a very good pick.
I was just reading up about him. Love the confidence.
What he had to say: “Aaron Donald’s the guy I try to model my game after, but I like to tell people all the time: it’s all about leverage,” Gill-Howard told CBS Sports. “I’m a guy that can beat any O-lineman with leverage. It doesn’t matter if they’re 6-8, 330 pounds or whatever. I have natural leverage.”
Gill, Wingo, West
We really targeting them short DTs day 3 that can penetrate
I think West is more in the Paschal vein, upon further review. More edge than DT, whereas those other guys are more DT than edge.

Over the years… DT seems to be the position where RAS score doesn’t mean too much… particularly for smaller DTs.
Taking a look at SGH… his Ras score would actually be in the mid-7’s range if he didn’t get 1.34 for his height and 1.58 for his weight.
This is kind of a flaw with RAS scores, because 6’5 and 335 pounds is not ideal size for a 3-tech… but it would make his RAS score much higher.
He has good scores for the tests that matter (vert, broad, shuttle).
And.. one last thing is that this guy is known for getting off the ball quickly, but his 10-yard split wasn’t good. Makes me wonder if he just isn’t good getting out of the apeinter stance like some of the guys with track backgrounds.

I think on the whole DTs don’t spend as much time training specifically for the combine testing since they’re not as important for them. That slow-ish ten-yard was surprising given his tape, but I’m 99% sure he didn’t train a track start the way these other guys do. And for teams it doesn’t matter, since they’ll have gobs of GPS data showing just how quickly he accelerates, on the line of scrimmage, at the snap.
.
I pulled up his highlight video because I am not familiar with him, and I was surprised to see him playing at 5-tech and 7-tech on most of the plays…. but didn’t have a single snap at 3-tech in the video.

He’s got 33+” arms as well, so he has that along with natural leverage.
Seems similar to Wheat
But not Barley?
Baby steps. He barley even got drafted.
How can you not include the Gambling Hall of Fame inductee, Demetrilicious Taylor, in the same breath?. If he had turned his Wifi off in Allen Park, none of those DT imposters would be necessary.
