good stuff. he deserves it
Good, no problem with this at all
Much Deserved! RBs gotta make their money early!
It seems like we have extended a bunch of important guys in the last two years. Who is left/next?
Good news.
But the Monty thing was never about money. ![]()
Isiah Pacheco signed a one-year, fully guaranteed $1.81 million deal with the Detroit Lions in March 2026 to replace David Montgomery. Meanwhile, Montgomery was traded to the Houston Texans, who restructured his deal into a two-year, $16.5 million contract with $10 million guaranteed and an $8.25 million average annual salary. The running back position value is changing again. Interesting too see how’s it’s back to the way it used to be.
Glad it’s over for them, good for him for getting his money. Also from the team perspective I’m happy this is only 3 years (so in reality probably 2 years before they do this song and dance again).
I enjoy watching him play as much as anyone, but that’s an awful lot of money to pay a guy who only had three games with over 100 yards rushing last year. Yes the OL wasn’t good, but that could be an argument against him too.
just sayin.

Now that Gibbs is done, I think the attention should turn towards LaPorta. I know he is coming off injury, but if he is looking health is camp, we would save some money doing the deal now.
I’d offer 4 year, 72m. Makes him 3rd highest behind McBride and Kittle. If he has a good year he is going to command north of 20mil AAV.
And people aren’t expecting a dropoff at RB2… which is wild to me
I think most people just expect Gibbs to get more work would should make up for the drop off. Montgomery was a top 20 RB. When healthy, Pacheco is probably top 35 RB.
Yeah, can’t always have both your cake and the ice cream. They still gotta pay Sam and possibly Branch.
Would love to have kept DMo. I guess we’ll be able to make the appropriate comps after this season.
I’m sure they are a bit nervous about his health. He’s essentially on a “prove it” deal this year.
Like most of these deals, in 2 years this will look like a bargain.
What was it, 4 or 5 years ago where analysts were saying the RB position was losing its impact on the game? ![]()
It’s crazy how fast this game changes on the field.
Is it 3 additional years after the 5th year option we picked up?
If so he’s under contract for 5 more seasons including this one. Not sure on those details
Gibbs has stayed healthy. Why im i having bad juju feelings. Thats a ton of money, but happy hes staying

Don’t you dare say the I word. We don’t need any bad luck.

So he’s under control for 4 or 5 more years?
Rbs dont stay healthy. Lions have history of it.
