I went to a Cardinals event tonight that had a Q&A with their TE Trey McBride. The last question to him was, with the upcoming schedule what team was he looking forward to playing this year? The Lions was the 1st team he mentioned.
Nice. What did he say that was giving the Lions love?
Maybe titled wrong, but out of their 17 games next year the Lions (not a divisional opponent) was the 1st team he mentioned. Gonna change it to respect.
Nah it’s cool…just was curious if he had said something.
Sometimes guys want to play against good competition. I hope our revamped defense gives him fits though

No Lions or state of Michigan connections anywhere in his bio:
I’m curious as to his reasoning behind that choice.
Does he think he matches up well against us?
I’m also curious to see how he feels after the game about it.
Ron Wolfley was the moderator. He is the voice of the Cardinals and use to play fullback for ten years. He said the Cards will be playing allot of 2 tight end sets and will be one of the “toughest” offensives in the league. After Trey stating the Lions, Ron said he always looked forward to playing divisional opponents. It was a fun little meeting. I think there were more sales reps than fans. The event was a sales event trying to sell a few club seats they have left for the upcoming season.
I think McBride named the Lions as the game he was looking forward to for a couple of reasons.
#1) The Lions are one of the best teams in the league and provide a good test of how the team stands in the NFC.
#2) Steve Heiden is the Lions TE coach. Heiden was also McBride’s TE coach when he was a rookie. You always want to show your old coach how you have developed.
