nobody saw us doing what we did and as far as we went in 2023-either, we have added some more skill and gotten deeper in a number of spots on the team this offseason, yeah we can still say “but” , “but” , “but” we could use XYZ here or there." I THINK this damn team gets BETTER in 2024 , with more players stepping the hell up- and we’re still hungry with a damn good and focused LEADER in Jared Goff…4% can kiss my ass !!!
Many had the Lions winning the NFC North. Some had them making it as a WildCard. I’d say over 90 percent of the sports media who cover the NFL had the Lions in the playoffs. And most of that 90 percent had them winning the division. Some did say “But they gotta win a playoff game, especially if it’s a home game” and that was mostly local media. But this board? I’d say 98 percent of this board had the Lions in the playoffs and 70 percent of that 98 had the Lions winning the North and of course most of us thought they’d win at least one playoff game.
no disrespect @Richard_Parker …but every off season -LONG before we had Dan Campbell , Brad Holmes , Shelia , or any of the present staff, all I heard was "superbowl or bust or how we’ll go 19 &0 and things like this every offseason. I sure didn’t think The Team was going to do as good as they did in 23, I thought we’d get 10 wins.tops…I think we improved and got deeper all around the team’- m save for a spot or three,I think we can reach a Bowl here in 2024.
Well you probably didn’t hear that from the National or local media….you probably heard that from Lions fans on message boards. That said….all you have to do is look at last season’s prediction thread to know who picked the Lions to do what. Most on here had 11-6. I know me and @BigNatty had 11-6 and after the opening win at KC we both said 12-5. But read last years prediction thread….you will see that most on this board had the Lions in the playoffs
My thoughts at moment are that offensively and defensively we are going to be able to go toe to toe with any challenger at any level.
I genuinely believe that our commitment to ST through the last 3 years will pay off in a major way this year with the changes. ST can be the thing that pushes over the finish line.
The thing some don’t realize or take into consideration is getting better doesn’t mean doing better.
The Lions are better, no doubt about it. But they ran extremely lucky on the impact injury front in 2023. Also put up crazy offensive numbers across the board. We were a play away from a SB appearance. The odds of a team that’s even better than 2023 repeating that aren’t great.
Love our chances…but all this talk of SB or bust is happening here and only here. A bunch of other teams got better too…
Not to mention the schedule this year - on paper - is harder. Add into that more short weeks, different game times etc.
That all plays a factor. I wouldn’t be stunned if they didn’t repeat a 12-5 record. They just need a ticket to the dance. Once that starts it will be the closest thing to last year they might see this season.
I don’t think the schedule is that hard. I see the Lions starting off 7-0…yes you read that correctly 7-0. When the schedule was announced a few weeks ago i said 13-4 and I am going to stick with that!
The Lions haven’t lost back-to-back games since Halloween 2022. The last trap game they lost was later that Christmas to the Panthers. I think that trend continues.
It’s quite reasonable to project the Lions going 8-1 at home and 5-3 on the road.
