Lions interested in Broncos’ Morton as OC

Yes, and Dan will be heavily involved in our passing game with Goff. I think we will be fine with Morton.

We don’t have a choice now… he’s with us.

I’d like a win at WR coach- Hines Ward please

I have to wonder now …

With the news that Ben hired Doyle (Broncos TE coach) as OC if that means Dan has locked down Morton.

Doesn’t make a ton of sense that Ben wouldn’t nab Morton, who he has history with and has much more experience than Doyle.

I know Ben is still planning to call plays but you’d want to surround yourself with experience.

I think Morton is the guy. Just not sure what that means for Scottie and Tanner.

I’m near 100% expecting Campbell to call plays next year.

Really? I don’t see that. Unless the new OC sucks and he takes over.

I think he was legit on the fence about whether to do it the first time or to let Ben.

Which leads to the “Assistant Head Coach” title for Montgomery. I’m shocked at the lack of respect the board shows to that position. It’s not a title technicality we used to hire a good RB coach. He’s legit being groomed for his own gig as HC. With Dan calling plays and potentially committing more time to that side of the ball, he’s going to rely even more on Scottie, IMO.

I love Dan’s thought process with this hire.

I don’t see Dan calling plays either.

If it’s Morton I’m hoping we see an announcement tomorrow. I get you don’t announce it today so you don’t take attention away from the games. By if it’s not tomorrow, I don’t understand the hold up unless it’s not Morton.

Honestly, tanner is at his ceiling, he would have gotten the move up otherwise. It’s not an XO thing with him. Its a people thing. He doesnt connect or relate to the players well. He isn’t an asshole, just doesn’t connect with them. Its why he didnt get the job.

So if Morton’s choice is between the Lions, Jets and Bears, he’s coming here if the pay is commensurate. The Jets have the KAaron Rodgers stinkhole, and Ben Johnson is calling the plays in Chicago even if he hired Andy Reid as the OC.

Pretty soon we’ll be the last one standing. Come on down, John Morton!!

There’s a lot of open OC gigs still unfortunately

But also could just mean they are staying put in there roles…?

Some guys are better at studying film and drawing up plays. There’s nothing wrong with that.

Probably nothing? They get on with their jobs and keep trying to earn a promotion? If they’re the right kind of person they’ll understand that in a meritocracy and a competitive environment for these jobs they can’t expect anything, and take being overlooked as a sign that they’re not ready yet and need to keep grinding. If they have a tantrum and want to leave then fine, they weren’t the right kind of guy to be here anyway.
