Lions Mailbag: How big of a problem is losing front office employees?

I believe the “poaching” is little more than acknowledgement and respect for our front office. It can be a bit of an inconvenience, but I don’t see a problem until our key personal is gone.

It’s also interesting that a couple of lifers were sought after, too. It’s amazing what a little respectability for the top dogs can do for those beneath them.

Reflected glory.

I don’t think it’s a huge problem because our FO has a lot of talent in a lot of positions.
Winning is the proof in the pudding. As guys get poached, young up-and-comers will desire to work here. First because they will be working for one of the best and second they will get a chance to be poached for a better position if they can show that they have the moxie.
As long as Brad keeps drafting like he has been, we’ll keep winning and won’t have to spend huge in free agency. Talented scouts will want to have their names connected to that.

Short term it hurts especially if replacements fizzle ie: see the bly experiment in the coaching room, but just like that they seem on paper to have gotten jt right QUICKLY. i imagine they will continue to.

It really hurts the guys who need someone to sign their time card.

It’s kind of like back office employees. As long as the red stapler stays, we’re good.

Four years ago if you told me we were losing personnel from the front office I’d just assume they were arrested for embezzlement. The fact they they are being poached by other teams seems to indicate we’re going in the right direction.

losing front office people or individuals could be damaging to the team, and it’s OA success or lack of it. all it takes is to lose one or two key people that helped hold all the good together-before it begins to unravel…

I think losing Newmark will be felt. I wouldn’t consider him a back bencher.

four / five years ago, I didn’t care , BUT now we have one of thee best front offices in all of football ? yeah , it bugs me a little. nail that *

I think the goal of any organization is to build depth, so when you lose talent you have gifted people to step into the vacated roles. To me this is one of the most noticeable changes the organization has made. They are constantly searching for and identifying talent, adding them to the organization, determining how to best use their talents and creating a role/title for them whether it currently exists or not. Continue adding highly regarded people - never turn talent away.
