Lions mock draft roundup

Pretty handy little synopsis from Schlitt here, good way to keep up with guys who might go with our pick:

Our picks:

Edge:
Donovan Ezeiruaku (by 1 writer)
Mike Green (4 writers)
Mykel Williams (1)
Jack Sawyer (7)
JTT Tuimoloau (1)
Nic Scourton (1)
Jalon Walker (1)

DT:
Derrick Harmon (3)
Walter Nolen (2)
Tyleik Williams (1)

OL:
Armand Membou (1)
Tyler Booker (1)
Grey Zabel (2)
Donovan Jackson (2)
Jonah Savaiinaea (1)

LB:
Jihaad Campbell (1)

WR:
Tre Harris (1)

CB:
Azareye’h Thomas (1)

Obviously these national guys aren’t attuned perfectly to our tendencies, but overall I think this is a pretty good list. I don’t think Green or Nolen will be on our board for off-field issues, but maybe they aren’t as bad as they’ve been reported to be.

They are all wrong, at least lots of them. I feel better now.

As an expert on being wrong I can confirm that your instinct regarding their impending wrongness is on point.

Edge is interesting on that list. My reaction is either too good to be true or man, that’s too early. Really no in between for that group of guys.

I feel the same way. We’re kind of in a no man’s land for edge.

At least my draft crush made the list. (Derrick Harmon)

Forgot this one. LOL:

28. Detroit Lions: Jalen Milroe, QB, Alabama

The Lions may be trying to win now, but if they’re going to win at the highest level, they need more at quarterback. Milroe would be a roll of the dice, but if he can be their version of Jalen Hurts, he could provide Detroit with the kind of smash-mouth-at-all-positions style that has carried the Eagles, which the Lions would love to deploy under Dan Campbell.

Ugh.

Well this was only for the past week so that one missed the cut. I think he’ll be updating the list weekly.

Yeah he’s one of mine too. Would love him to make it to us.

Holmes sure does like them west coast guys. There’s a chance.

From that list, I would be happy with DT Harmon or Grant and for DE Scourton, Stewart or Green, with a trade back CB Thomas maybe JTT or Sawyer, Dream scenario would be 1 DE Scourton, 2 DT Collins>Walker

Yeah, because QB is why we didn’t make it to the Super Bowl.

I could get on board getting Mike Green…if it doesn’t break the bank.

I feel strongly that Bama is going to be upgrading at QB next season. So let that sink in.

Milroe is super raw IMO. He would make a great TE prospect or slot guy or maybe even a RB or H-back. But his passing game needs refinement. I would put him below JJ whom I think was a better passer and I have doubts JJ will ever be much in the NFL.

Now maybe you grab Milroe and hope that after 1-2 years of coaching he can be more consistent. But I would also be concerned at how well he processes. Listen I though the biggest issue with Bama when I watched them was the inconsistent play at QB. He could dominate or look bad. Flip the coin.

I don’t think anyone had Jack Campbell going were we took him, got a feeling somr lower graded guys will get drafted higher and some guys rated higher will drop .

Ty Simpson isn’t as good as everyone wants to believe, because if he was, a. he would’ve played more and b. he would’ve beat Milroe for the job.

Unless Keelon Russell (I have a class with him btw) gets to start as a true freshman, I see us needing another rebuild year at QB.
