As soon as the Oline gels, the magic should be there.

“Ahmed Hassanein shared that he has been working out with David Lawrence at MECA, which allowed him to learn more about his body and in turn increase muscle and improve his diet. He learned about MECA from Aidan Hutchinson, who also trains with MECA, and is eager to show off the progress he made.”

A bigger stronger Hassanein could be that 1st and 2nd down anchor and even kick inside on passing downs.

Penei Sewell already plugged in at LT – and TE?

Sewell also declined to stop for interviews after practice – he was headed out of town. But he seems completely comfortable in his new digs at left tackle.

Sewell might the best pound-for-pound athlete in the NFL. Both he and Borom ran a couple pass routes Friday, and Sewell moves with the grace and power of a tight end.

On one route, he turned up field after making a catch, hit a blocking pad that new offensive line assistant Dan Skipper was holding and jolted Skipper back a few steps. Skipper, who already looks like he has lost 30 or so pounds in retirement, relished the contact.

I remember reading an article that Sewell was youngest player to start at Left Tackle in High school, college at 17 and NFL at 20, I think he will be better at LT his natural position

I would definitely not be surprised if the Lions have 3 OTs on the field for significantly more snaps this season.

Makes a lot of sense when we want to get physical up front. Plus we can still run play action out of it.

Goff, Gibbs, LaPorta, St. Brown and Jamo with a 6 man oline would be pretty deadly. If defenses crowd the box, we throw. If they don’t we run the ball down their throats.

Think about 11 personnel ARSB, Jamo, and Teslaa at WR… Gibbs at RB, and 6 OL players.

What personnel does a defense choose to face that group?

Nickel would have trouble stopping the run. Base personnel would have challenges covering those WRs and Gibbs.

Plus I love the idea of pivoting this way while the rest of the league pivots away from it. Especially since we can still run out of it. You could basically toggle that version of 11 with LaPorta as the 3rd WR or the 6th OL too. Along with still playing plenty of 12 with a sprinkling of 13. But our personnel screams for as few TEs as possible outside of Sam.
